12 Ways To Monetize Your Book
Writing a book forces us to organize our thoughts.
From that organization, here are 12 ways to monetize your book:
1?? SOFTWARE
What?! Yes, turn your process, methodology, or systematic way of doing things into an app or software. Or you can turn it into some type of online calculator. That’s what I did with my KPi calendar which is in one of my books.
2?? RETREAT
More and more people are craving real human connection, hence the growing popularity of “Offline Cafes”. Get folks out of there house and use your book to instill value and community connection.
I’ve never done it, but I’ve seen a few authors do it and I can see the benefits.
3?? CONSULTING/COACHING
Create a 1:1 or group coaching experience based off your book. This is a simple transition especially if your book delivers a result. I've done this using the hybrid coaching method and it was a win/win situation for everyone.
4?? MASTERMIND
I was part of a paid mastermind group, and the founders had an eBook that they referenced a lot. You can do this if it makes sense.
5?? CORPORATE TRAINING
“The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader” by john maxwell was a book the owners had us read when I worked at the welding shop years ago.
Your book can be used to inspire, educate or train as well. Don’t limit yourself.
6?? ONLINE COURSE
Take the chapters of your book and turn those into modules. Gather feedback and make continuous improvement along the way.
TIP: you can put your videos or courses into Google drive for free, while your beta testing instead of investing in an online course platform right now.
7?? MASTERCLASS
This is for those who are a known expert in their field and the students already have some foundational knowledge before they enter.
You can typically get away with charging more than a traditional workshop.

8?? WORKSHOP
Very practical, hands-on, available for different skill levels, highly interactive, and focused on gaining new skills and applying them. Take those practical steps in your book and create a workshop.
? Start with a short workshop: 30 min-90 min
9?? LIVE EVENT
Broad scope, varied formats, diverse objectives. large or small audiences, varied activities. Some games, some prizes. A chance to network as well. This is person with ADHD dream come true. ha (See funnel hackers live for example).
1??0?? SEMINAR
Focused on education, structured format (lectures and discussions), specific audience, shorter duration, less activities. Slower paced. ??
1??1?? MENTORSHIP
A good mentor has the experience and knowledge the mentee is seeking. They also can introduce the mentee to their networks.
Everything you provide in the book can be expounded on. This can help them grow personally and professionally. I liken mentorship to parenting. Yea, you can tell me what to do…. this or that, but just by observing you and hanging around you, I’ll pick up certain habits and behaviors.
Priceless.
1??2?? CROWDFUNDING
You can rally your community by telling them the importance of getting your book out there. Set a budget and break it down, so the backers can see where their money is going:
* Editing
* Cover design
* Printing
* Marketing etc.
A lot can be said on each of these. And honestly, I’ve only done 4 out of the 12. (And I know there’s more)
Don’t rush the process. Creating a really helpful impactful book is the first goal.
