"Atomic Habits" is a guide book that you can use to make tiny changes, those tiny changes will help you to build good habits & break bad ones. This book is one of New York Times Bestsellers. I read it recently, and I find it interesting to share some of the Quotes that I liked the most.
- Being motivated is better than being smart. Being motivated and curious counts for more than being smart because it leads to action. Being smart will never deliver results on its own because it doesn't get you to act. It is desire, not intelligence, that prompts behavior.
- Habits are more dopamine feedback loop, when dopamine rises, so does our motivation to act
- One of the most effective things you can do to build better habits is to join a culture where (1) your desired behavior is the normal behavior and (2) you have something in common with the group.
- The amount of time you have been performing a habit is not as important as the number of times you have been performed it
- Even when you know you should start small, it's easy to start too big. When you dream about making a change, excitement inevitably takes over and you end up trying to do too much too soon. The most effective way I know to counteract this tendency is to use the Two Minute Rule, which states "When you start a new habit, it should take less than two minutes to do." You'll find that nearly any habit can be scaled down into a two minute version: "Read before bed each night" becomes "Read one page."
- Using technology to automate your habits are the most reliable and effective way to guarantee the right behavior
- The human brain evolved to prioritize immediate rewards over delayed rewards. The Cardinal rule of behavioral change: What is immediately rewarded is repeated. What is immediately punished is avoided.
- "Don't break the chain" is a powerful mantra . Don't break the chain of sales call and you'll build a successful book of business. Don't break the chain of workouts and you'll get fit faster than you'd expect. Don't break the chain of creating every day and you will end up with an impressive portfolio. Habit tracking is powerful because it leverages multiple laws of Behavior Change. It simultaneously makes a behavior obvious, attractive and satisfying.
- Never miss twice. If you miss one day, try to get back on track as quickly as possible.
- Pick the right habit and the progress is easy, Pick the wrong habit and life is struggle.
- The greatest threat to success is not failure but boredom.
- The upside of habits is that we can do things without thinking. the downside is that we stop paying attention to little errors. Habits + Deliberate Practice = Mastery.
This book is one of the most interesting book that you can use as a framework for getting better, not only in your personal life, but in business and other pillars. understanding the process of progress will help us to reach the aimed objective.
If you have read it please share with you the quotes that you liked the most. and If there is anything that inspired you too recently, I'd love to hear about it.
