Power Supply Curtailment Disrupts Mining Operations

One of the leading mining consulting company in Australia, representing an established mining company operating a gold mine in Ivory Coast, contacted Altaaqa Global in response to an urgent need for emergency power. The gold mine faced significant operational disruptions due to frequent grid interruptions and instability, a situation which had already occurred in the recent past. The continuity of stable power supply is of paramount importance both for mining machinery and overall mine production targets. The client required an immediate power solution able to work in island mode or parallel with the grid. Time being of the essence, the client insisted on mobilizing a portion of the equipment by plane.

Rapid Deployment of Independent Power Solution

Altaaqa Global leveraged its gained expertise and experience based on previous successful projects in the region and worked with logistic partners to propose the most time and cost-effective solution for the customer’s benefit. Mobilizing 8 diesel generator sets from separate location as well electrical equipment, the company ensured that part of the necessary equipment was swiftly transported in two chartered heavy cargo planes. Altaaqa successfully deployed a total of 12 MW of power to the gold mine, arriving shortly after to installation and commission the units.
