Hey Friends, ??

This is the grand finale of Slice of Sales Enablement for 2023, and I'm wrapping it up with a bang! I've compiled my 12 nuggets of wisdom from the year - mostly professional, with a sprinkle of personal for that extra flavour.

So, buckle up, let me know your thoughts, and don't forget to hit that subscribe button. ??


  1. If it quacks like a Zebra ?? and wears Zebra stripes ??, you better bet it's a Zebra.?? Trust your gut, especially in a year full of redundancies. I once heard a tale of a corporate climber who reached the top only to find out he'd been scaling the wrong ladder. Take a look at yourself and question yourself, are you on the right ladder?
  2. Stepping out of my comfort zone has been a wild ride! Podcasts with Two Roads and kicking out my first keynote at the Sales Enablement Collective were professional highlights. And partnering with DDH to level up? Pure gold! PurplePatch in 2024 is shaping up to be epic, and I've learned it's its not linear, but hey, slow and steady wins the race, right
  3. Oh, did I mention my newsletter? We've hit over 1k subscribers ?? - that's cool. Writing every day might seem basic, but it's my secret sauce for perfecting grammar, storytelling, and figuring out what the heck I offer. How am I helping people? That's the question du jour.
  4. Look at the picture above; ?? that grin says it all. I tied the knot, ?? finally got PR in my favourite country,???? and I'm living life by design, not default, coffee, walks, beach, dips. What are your non-negotiables?
  5. Sales Enablement isn't a done deal; it's evolving faster than a chameleon on a Skittles factory tour. If you're not on your A-game, the game will play you.
  6. Businesses NEED Sales Enablement in 2024. Sales managers can't do it all; some still think it's just a fancy title. To those leaders, channel your inner growth mindset; business is a perpetual game of evolution.
  7. ROI has been hotter than a jalape?o in Enablement, not just in revenue but in YOU. Stakeholder management needs to be sharper than ever before, communication stronger than Hulk on steroids, and knowing your purpose more crucial than ever. Be indispensable! ???
  8. AI is on the rise, but remember, personalise the shit out of it. In 2023, my highest hit rate reply was a LinkedIn Voice Note. Don't be shy; embrace the human touch! And remember, people matter more than the workplace or industry.
  9. Choose your work buddies wisely; they can make or break your vibe. ??
  10. Thinking of jumping ship from Sales to Enablement? You might earn less (initially), but the rewards are like hitting the jackpot. I've found my passion, and if you need advice, I'm always up for a Zoom or, better yet, a coffee in person. ?
  11. I'm concerned about the fate of SDR/BDR; these folks are the unsung heroes. Tenacious, eager to learn, and masters of the basics. They often morph into the best AE/CSMs and future leaders. I have loved continuing to work with these groups of people and if your SDR / AE / CSM teams need enablement remember fractional enablement could well be an options whilst budgets are still strap locked down deeper than the titanic! ??
  12. Lastly, a massive shoutout to some incredible souls I've had the pleasure of working with. Maddy Clark and the Shootsta crew, Conor Brockelsby and the Sonder squad, and the one and only Danielle Dacunha-Howarth – you've made my working and personal world brighter. Brace yourselves; 2024 is serving up some spicy curveballs!

Point 11. Something’s gotta give here. Leaders have to flip the script and allow SDRs to use creativity to get the job done. Feels a little like we’ve had 3 years of death by process.
