#12 First Friday Was A Success

This past weekend I got to experience what is known in the Art world as First Fridays which is a time for you to go to different galleries and see new works on display and possibly meet the artists behind them. It was a great way to meet and see people in the art community of buffalo and also hear about the creative process of other artists. I also completed my mobile friendly websites course through Bitwise and was able to help put together my first Art showing of our class photography at NCCC. I appreciate you all for being a part of my creative community. I was able to connect a-lot of dots and I must say It was a very productive week and a great way to close out one month and bring in the next. I feel very positive about the things that I am doing and this newsletter is a way to get these ideas out and also lay a framework for different forms of content in the future.

The galleries that I visited were Rivalry Projects, Pine Apple Co, El Museo, and BAM! or Buffalo Art Movement. Feel free to click on the links to view their websites! My biggest takeaways from attending these art galleries, speaking with artists and art directors and former students of my professor Joe Ziolkowski was that the world of Art brings so many people together to appreciate beauty in the creations of others. Presenting the artwork and discussing the methods behind creation are some of the areas that interest me the most. As I begin to make prints and paintings I look forward to displaying my work in a few galleries around the Western New York area and also earning a living from my work. I am also excited to be working on portrait photography for one of my upcoming projects and I look to add these works to my photography portfolio as well. I have to use a male and a female model to capture portraits to use in a realistic and unrealistic fashion in order to improve portrait taking, use of light, and photoshop editing skills. I look forward to spending the rest of my life perfecting my craft and using photography as a means to expression.

In the tech space there has been an interesting development for the Buffalo/Niagara region as Bitwise has agreed to Buffalo being one of the 5 cities that they are expanding to. If you’re not aware, Bitwise is a technology firm funded by venture capital that aims to train minorities and other underrepresented groups people for employment in the tech sector. I was able to remotely attend one of their courses and I will say that the way they deliver the message of inclusivity in technology is definitely something that is needed in Buffalo and could have a huge impact in helping those with challenge backgrounds begin on the path to career and financial stability. If you are someone who has always wanted to get into the tech field but found it intimidating, this is the company you want to be a part of because they make sure to encourage everyone along every step of the way and support you throughout the whole process of learning to apprenticeship to tech career.
