12 exciting UK low carbon businesses
Twelve businesses and initiatives have been highlighted for their low carbon outputs and commitment to climate action. The companies vary across industries including brewing, farming and conservation, accessories, e-transport, wind power, the film industry, and energy efficient construction. They have been spotlighted by climate solutions charity?Ashden, to demonstrate how businesses can meet national climate targets. The businesses include: Elvis and Kresse, FarmEd, Toast Ale, VECTAR Sets – but you can read the full list here.

The mini reporter programme letting kids be budding presenters
Yellow Jigsaw is a training, communications and events programme – but the social enterprise invests in giving back to others, too. Its new scheme lets primary school-age children try their hand at news reporting. The ‘mini reporters’ get the chance to be on camera while learning how to create, debate and navigate the news. The pop-up TV studio and newsroom aims to support all children in improving their confidence. “The club was inspired by my son Jack, who struggled to find a club that matched his interests in media and creativity," says Kirsty Day, the project lead. Snapchat co-founder covers students' debt
During the commencement ceremonies, the 2022 graduating class of?Otis College of Art and Design?in Los Angeles found out that their student debt would be completely covered by Evan Spiegel, Snapchat co-founder. Spiegel took summer classes at Otis in high school, and as a result, felt compelled to help out students. The donation is the largest in the school’s history and will cover the debt of all 285 graduates. The donation will be done through his and his wife Miranda Kerr’s organization the?Spiegel Family Fund.?Read more.
