The 12 Days of Data - People

Hello all,

This daily series is intended to share 12 different areas of information around data governance and broader data strategy. I am pulling this together based on motivation I often feel in the fall.

I grew up in the Driftless, an area of South West Wisconsin, with rolling hills, great people, and hard workers. I recently had the opportunity to run a data culture/data governance workshop at one of my clients who was 'across the river' in Dubuque, Iowa and made me remember how great it is to work with folks from back home. The fall is the time of harvest, preparing for the winter, and celebrating community in much the same way we should work together in a world of data.

The first of the 12 days of data, I call People but it is really about leadership of a data governance program. It was heavily influenced by the writings and wisdom of David Plotkin and the article was co-written by Aria Wornson and myself. While it does have some Alation content in it, it is core to the doctoral work I wrote well over a decade ago, and aligns with the Top of 'The House of Data'. We will talk more of that in future days of data.

Please take a moment and review this article: Leadership and Team Formation in Data Governance.

If you are looking for more information, or a great one-day course on Data Governance consider joining me at revAlation in Chicago on Oct 23-24, more information can be found here.

Have a great day, and remember to make data governance fun.
