The 12 Days of Ai's Four Calling Birds is a perfect time for our Lions, Tigers, and Bear Moment: Security, Frauds, and deep fakes. Oh My! Time for Dorthy to get suited and booted as "We are not in Kansas."
With the flood of ChatGPT messages and MidJourney Images, our minds are telling us to be careful as Ai brings us to the Uncanny Valley. The Uncanny Valley is a term that refers to the uneasy gap between actual humans and almost humanoid objects. It was coined by Masahiro Mori to describe the point at which an artificial thing becomes almost human-like that it elicits feelings of revulsion in humans. To prove this, I created the image below with the text prompt: "woman clasping her own freshly manicured hands." It is both right and very wrong. Yuk.
While revolting and unnerving, The Uncanny Valley is protecting us, as our minds can tell the difference between the almost real and the real. I predict Ai will cross the Uncanny Valley next year, and then we will enter Deep Fake mountain. We're already starting to see this effect with deep fake computer-generated images or videos that create the illusion of an event that never happened.
The security implications of Deep Fakes are apparent: if you can convincingly create a fake video of someone doing something they never did, how do you know what's real and what's not? You might think your favorite celebrity just gave you a shoutout on Twitter, but it could be a fake video created by someone else.
People can find themselves targeted by fake videos, explicit content, and propaganda generated by Ai—and these images may be used for identity theft or ransomware attacks. ChatGTP, coupled with MidSummer and Github's Co-pilot, will make it easier for "bad actors" to create clone websites for phishing attacks. The classic too-good-to-be-true shell game won't change- it will now be at scale.
That's the Scary. Now the Good.
Reusing existing information technology infrastructure is a growing trend in the generative artificial intelligence market, lowering barriers to entry and encouraging faster adoption of new technologies across all Industries.
As a result of these trends, we can expect more developers to create innovative new programs and platforms. Ai is no longer just for massive projects; Builder.ai and Github's Co-pilot will deliver Ai to the consumer level!
Accelerating the development of Ai Software and life sciences

Software and Ai applications are being developed more quickly as generative Ai technologies allow software engineers to augment their efforts. NLP Cloud is an advanced software service that helps organizations fine-tune and deploy AI models; it enables easy text understanding and generation—without DevOps.
This same tool can be used in life sciences and engineering. Gartner predicts that by 2025, at least 30% of all new drugs and materials will be discovered through generative Ai models. AI models will change chemistry, engineering, and Physics. I have worked on Ai chemistry projects that have reduced research times by up to 99%. What took days and weeks now can take seconds, leaving time for the scientist to spend on Science intensity.
Dorthy, get your lab jacket on.

2 年Pianists, hold your horses before jumping on the AI bandwagon! Sure, AI-generated images of your weird-looking hands may be all the rage, but don't be so quick to replace your tried-and-true press photos just yet. After all, you never know when a glitch in the matrix might make your hands look even weirder than they already do. So take a deep breath, relax those awkward fingers, and just enjoy being a weird-handed pianist the old-fashioned way.
