I must read Hillbilly Elegy. An interesting film about Appalachia is the documentary, The True Meaning of Pictures: Shelby Lee Adams. So many voices and views - It totally changed my perspective. Some Vonnegut paperbacks came to hand recently and I thought it was the end of this genre . I wonder if the Sympathizer is similar writing. Thanks for the list and inspiring choices -was really getting jaded!
