11th Monaco-Japan Artistic Encounter
Fantastic being part of the this international event in Monaco.
For the 11th year in a row the countries of Monaco and Japan were brought closer together by this artistic encounter.
Japanese artists were exhibited side by side along with Monegasque National Committee of AIAP at Unesco. The exhibit was presented at the Rainier III Auditorium in stunning Monte-Carlo.
The event showcased artists from both regions along with cultural activities. There was an opportunity to take part in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony called Chanoyu, Sado or simply Ocha in Japanese. The Japanese film “Towards the Other Side” (Kishibe no Tabi) was also viewed as part of the exhibit.
The art was displayed over two floors throughout the auditorium overlooking the Bay of Monte Carlo. The Japanese artists were well represented with art ranging from traditional to modern abstract. Seeing the European artists alongside Japanese made for a rare visual experience, a wonderful blend of international art and culture.
Te artists presented spectacular paintings and sculptures. Two of the paintings that stood out were by artists Annalisa Iuri “La Tour Enchantment” and Tsuneo Kake “A Vancouver”. Two sculptures stole the show, Serge Dos Santos “Je Suis” and Michel Anthony “Aphrodite”.
It was a pleasure to attend this event and experience the blending cultures and art from two very different countries. Looking forward to next year’s event already.
