Monday

??On Monday we addressed a new report that details that Cascale , Textile Exchange , the Social & Labor Convergence Program and Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals ( ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme ) are failing to engage fashion suppliers in their efforts to reduce the industry's impacts.

Entitled 'Collective Action Reimagined: A Call for Fair Process and Supplier Inclusion in Fashion’s Multi-Stakeholder Initiatives', the report from the Transformers Foundation aims to assess whether the four "key and influential MSIs" have succeeded in including suppliers in their work.

??We also reported that next generation materials manufacturer, Natural Fiber Welding has reportedly furloughed a number of its workers amid delays to customer contracting and a subsequent shortfall in funding.

The start-up, which last year was nominated as a finalist for The Earthshot Prize , has also confirmed that company founder and CEO Luke Haverhals has resigned from his role as chief executive officer but will still remain on the firm’s board of directors.

Tuesday

??On Tuesday, we disclosed that the EURATEX - European Apparel and Textile Confederation textile industry trade body has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with AMITH - Association Marocaine des Industries du Textile et de l'Habillement which includes aligning on sustainability and circularity.

The MoU, signed during the Maroc in Mode apparel sourcing trade show in Casablanca, aims to foster deeper collaboration and mutual growth within the European and Moroccan textile and clothing industries.

??We also revealed that the Active Apparel Group has been awarded B Corp status in recognition of its ongoing efforts in social and environmental sustainability, transparency, and ethical business practices.

To receive certification, companies are required to meet a minimum of 80 points across five key areas of the B Impact Assessment. These include governance, workers, community, environment and customers.

Wednesday

??On Wednesday, we reported that apparel fastening solutions manufacturer, YKK Corporation has published its latest sustainability report in which it outlines its most recent progress toward climate neutrality and environmental stewardship.

The ‘This is YKK 2024’ report highlights new initiatives and performance data on its efforts to reduce its environmental impacts, including details on how it has slashed its greenhouse gas emissions by more than half since 2018, while expanding its use of sustainable materials across its global operations.

??We also brought to light the news that the Clean Clothes Campaign , which works for better pay and conditions for the world's garment workers, has linked up with eight other NGOs to publish a new guide to the European Union's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive.

It focuses on how the legislation, which will make companies responsible for environmental and human rights impacts in their global supply chains, could be improved as it is adopted into the national law of EU member states.

Thursday

??On Thursday we disclosed that Cascale , formerly the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, and its technology partner Worldly , have published a new guide to help fashion companies comply with California's new climate laws.

The Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act (SB 253) and the Climate-Related Financial Risk Act (SB 261) are expected to reshape corporate environmental reporting in the US.

??We also reported that international law firm 贝克?麦坚时 and sustainability consultants Positive Luxury have published an updated guide for luxury brands on meeting the requirements of new and upcoming environmental and human rights legislation.

It highlights key environmental, social and governance actions that brands must undertake to comply with regulatory developments in the European Union, UK and the US.
