11 Ways To Reinvent Yourself for the Life After COVID

11 Ways To Reinvent Yourself for the Life After COVID

2020 was, in a word, wow. By wow, I mean, it was everything you’d ever imagine in an apocalyptic fantasy, and some more.

But it is in the direst of circumstances that we learn some of life’s biggest lessons and truths about our own selves.

What if you came out of this storm having mastered ways to be productive like you’ve never done before? What if you reimagined and realigned your life by building the habits that would help you reinvent yourself?

Here’s how you can slowly but surely reinvent yourself for life after COVID.

Re-do your schedule

Remember, back in the day, not so very long ago, you’d travel fearlessly, have a set scheduled time for work, meals, workouts, and family time.

In quarantine though, it seems as though the days and nights are endlessly intertwined. And this sense of endless hours stunts productivity. So one of the foremost ways to be productive now is to re-do your schedule. Set specific times for everything — waking up, your meal, workout, meetings, follow-ups, etc.

Just because you’re at home, everything is not going to fall into place. It will not. You need to establish a new routine to make the best out of the time you have right now.

Focus on your well-being

It comes as no surprise that the past couple of months have taken a mental toll on all of us with varying degrees of intensity. In all this furor, it is easy to get swept away in the daily stresses and to place your mental health on the back burner.

Remember, you are the main player in your life. You are caught in the midst of this storm. And you need to take care of yourself first.

Only then will you be able to take care of all the rest — your loved ones, your finances, your future, everything.

Whilst you have to focus on ways to be productive and how to maximize your potential, it is not the first step. The first step is to take care of what is going on within you, and it is only when you have calmed the storm within that you can take care of all the challenges in life.

Venturing Inward: Self-discovery

Keeping in the vein of being in-tune with your own self, ask yourself the deeper questions that you might have overlooked in the past.

  • What do you truly want out of life?
  • What are your biggest strengths?
  • What are you proud of?
  • What are your weaknesses, and how do you think you can work towards overcoming them?
  • What has the onset of COVID taught you about yourself and life?
  • Where do you want to see yourself in the future?
  • Which venture or hobby gives you inner satisfaction?
  • What is your ideal career?

Answering these questions is so much more important, now more than ever, than to simply start focusing on building a new skill. Self-discovery is the first step on the road to self-reinvention. If you haven’t done the inner work as of yet, it is high time that you do.

Also, getting answers to these questions will not only get you on to the rewarding and fulfilling path of self-discovery, but it will also help you build a genuine and creative business plan for your new or existing business. Because authentic and successful entrepreneurs are always in line with their values.

Keep a daily log

This may sound strange, but you will see its efficacy once you start doing it.

Make entries of whatever you do during the day.

After a week or so, you will start feeling quite conscious of your entries, and if there’s a lack of ‘productive’ tasks or accomplishments, it will immediately motivate you to do more of those throughout your day.

It’s a simple trick, but it’s really effective. Because firstly, your daily log works as your productivity and performance tracker. Secondly, it also functions as an accountability reminder. Thirdly, it helps you visualize right upfront which of your goals are being achieved and in which areas do you lack and need to make necessary adjustments.

Compile your ideas

According to James Altucher, you need to exercise your idea muscle. And how do you do that? By working as much as you possibly can.

You have to allow your brain to give you ideas. The way to do that is to not silence your mind when it is coming up with ideas. Often, we push back the innovative and creative thoughts in our heads before they can even have a chance to bloom by saying, ‘Oh well, that’s never going to work’

James tells us to do the exact opposite: whenever you get an idea, write it down. Right then and there. He guarantees that this method will turn your brain into what he terms an idea machine.

Who knows, the breakthroughs that you have to make in your business with your next great idea might come from the same stream of many ideas in your head!

Making the switch

For those of us looking to switch careers in the uncertain times of COVID, yes it is possible to do so.

Now is the time that you try to test the waters before you take the leap.

For example, if you have been meaning to change your job or switch careers, take some time out of your current work and start researching about the industry that you want to work in.

Even though jobs are kind of hard to find these days with high levels of unemployment, see if you can find volunteer opportunities in the space that you want to work in the future. You can start by leveraging your time between your current job or business and the side career.

Not only will this make the transition easier for you when the time comes, but it will also help you know practically what skills and attributes you need to build to enter the career or job of your choice.

Embrace your imperfections

This would sound the opposite of what you’d usually hear people say regarding boosting productivity. They’re saying these days that the quarantine has to turn you into something great, given the time of apparent ‘free time’ that we have. We are somehow expected to transform within four walls into the next big chef or polyglot.

Take a step back. You will find, based on the list of things mentioned above, such as your self-reflection, keeping a log of daily activities, and idea compilation, that things take time

If you are struggling to be as productive as you once were, if you are feeling lonely, then that’s normal. Allow yourself to empathize with your own self in the chaotic times that we’re living in today.

Don’t forget to connect

To see yourself on a higher level, you need to build a tribe of people already working and thriving in the space that you want to be in. Connect with the people who’ve achieved remarkably, and whose success you want to emulate. Surrounding ourselves with the right people increases our own chances of achieving success.

Set new goals

As you reinvent yourself, you need to set new goals in your new or existing career. Challenge yourself with setting new goals, both for yourself and your business. At the same time, take note of what you want to do differently.

Keep it real, and more than just keeping it ambitious, keep it authentic

Practice being your future self

Achieving success has a lot to do with having the right mindset. A limiting mindset can hold you back from unleashing your potential more than any financial or other obstacle ever can.

Adopting the right mindset plays a key role in shaping your future. This involves getting rid of the old, limiting beliefs, and establishing the mindset for success which is the growth mindset.  We’ve discussed it at length here.

Invest in a side hustle

More than ever before, we’ve all seen how one stream of income, no matter how successful, can be quite insufficient. People with high-paying jobs have been laid off. Once flourishing businesses are facing major financial setbacks.

It is high time that you delve into creating multiple streams of income. Passive sources of income, like network marketing, are a great place to start.

If you want to learn more about how to build multiple streams of income, and how you can get your big break from network marketing, book a call with me. You will get to unravel so many possibilities to actualize your financial and personal breakthroughs in reinventing yourself.
