Successful people love to help beginners.
They have an insane work ethic and they don’t complain to other people. As a result, high school students want to be like them. But there is no success without sacrifice. You need to give up something if you want to accomplish your goals.
Value comes from solving problems and here are the 11 valuable tips to become more productive successful, and confident:
1. After you finish a task, take a short break.
I’ve learned from psychology that it’s important to reward positive behaviors.
For example, after reading a new book, you should walk around for five minutes to relax your brain. Spending time alone will help you realize the value of solitude. It’s important to have time for reflection to understand yourself. The best writers love to walk in the morning because walking gives them new ideas.
If you love to work without breaks, don’t be surprised when you experience burnout.
2. Schedule your most important tasks.
Losers love to multitask, but this is not a great strategy for productivity.
If you want to become more productive, use the time-blocking method. According to Caitlin Hughes, “Time blocking is a technique which involves scheduling blocks of time for your tasks throughout the day.” A great schedule will help you save time.
For example, if you’re a writer you should schedule everything.
You cannot buy time. So spend it without regret.
3. Avoid distractions in your workplace.
Focus is the key to success.
According to Inc. Magazine, it takes 23 minutes to recover from a distraction at work. So put your phone in the cabinet and don’t keep it near beside your table. And don’t watch too much Netflix.
Submit your work on time if you want to leave a great impression.
4. Take responsibility for your own life.
Entrepreneur Derek Sivers once said, “Everything is my fault.”
You need to stop blaming other people if you want to get ahead in life. Stop smoking and drinking too much alcohol. If you repeat these negative behaviors, you won’t like the consequences of your actions.
Your friends won’t accomplish your dreams for you.
5. Invest one hour of your time in learning new skills.
Skills comes from reading books and applying what you learn in real life.
I sucked at academic writing and technical writing. But I became a good writer by reading writing books. Don’t use your past as an excuse.
Having a competitive edge will help you become unstoppable.
6. Develop a growth mindset to get ahead of your competitors.
Most people have two mindsets: fixed mindset and growth mindset.
This concept comes from Dr. Carol Dweck. Fixed mindset believes in natural talent. But growth mindset believes in skills. Choose the growth mindset if you want to become successful in the digital age.

Don’t underestimate the power of your mind.
7. Read marketing books to find people who need your services.
I used to think that marketing was evil.
But marketing is about giving solutions to the problems of your target customer. Apple spends billions of dollars in marketing so don’t be ashamed of promoting yourself. If you don’t promote your products and services, you would not know if people are interested in your offer.
Creative people who master sales and marketing have an unfair advantage.
8. Ask your mentor interesting questions.
Hiring a mentor is expensive.
But it is worth it. The best mentors will teach you new skills. They don’t care about status, and they want to focus on your progress.
If you don’t have a mentor, read books to gain specialized knowledge.
9. Generate new evidence for your new identity.
Ryan Holiday, New York Times Best-Selling Author said, “I don’t believe in myself. I have evidence.”
Stop shouting affirmations in front of the mirror to have confidence. It doesn’t work. You should focus on doing the work to gain momentum.
True confidence comes from knowing yourself.
10. Focus on your strengths, not weaknesses.
If people compliment you on one of your skills, it means that it is one of your strengths.
One of my former professors told me that I was creative. As a result, I became more confident. And I started reading books about creativity because I want to learn from the best.
Your strengths comes from your work ethic.
11. Identify your limiting beliefs and plan how to overcome them.
Your beliefs limit you from taking action.
For example, I used to believe that I was not a good writer because I was diagnosed with choric tinnitus and I have astigmatism. In short, I have a sensory impairment. However, I realized that I should use my sensory impairment and my past as a motivation to produce great writing. Being competitive is great because it means that you want to be the best.
If you want to win in life, you need to avoid shortcuts.
