11 Scottish councils to enter ‘Tier 4’ lockdown from 6pm Friday
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced yesterday that 11 local authority areas in Scotland will be required to enter adopt Tier 4 local Covid protection restrictions, from 6pm on Friday 20 November.
Tier 4 will apply to the following areas:
- the City of Glasgow
- Renfrewshire
- East Renfrewshire
- East Dunbartonshire
- West Dunbartonshire
- North Lanarkshire
- South Lanarkshire
- East Ayrshire
- South Ayrshire
- Stirling
- West Lothian
Restrictions
Scottish Government guidance for Tier 4 lockdowns says that “only essential retail will be able to remain open in Level 4 providing they follow and have implemented Scottish Government guidance to ensure the safety of customers and staff.”
However, “click and collect, on-line services and outdoor retail, such as garden centres, outdoor markets and car lots, can also remain open.”
Other essential businesses permitted to remain open in Tier 4 lockdowns include car repair and MOT services and petrol stations.
Travel
Under Scottish Government travel guidance, if you live in a Level 4 local authority area you should:
- avoid any unnecessary travel out of the area
- also keep journeys within the area to an absolute minimum
- if you have to travel for essential purposes, follow the guidance on travelling safely below
