Hello all,
Did you ever wake up someday and just realized that it's okay not to be in control? or Did you ever wake up to a day when you realize that you've absolutely been not doing okay?
If you were there in any of the above situations, this edition is for you, "this is the pocket of stillness" that you would want to know and thrive in chaos. Firstly, if you are going through a lot of chaos in life, I wanted to tell you, it is okay, just hang in there. Things will take their own shape, time, and destiny :), It's tough I know but better than quitting and giving up.
22 January 2023,4:30 am, I was at the airport, seeing the girl next to me, dressed up in bright pink palazzos with red eyes because probably she was crying through the night because of the chaos that she was currently going through post-breakup. I could hear her speaking to her boyfriend on phone, discussing how this is not okay and how she was not okay.
While I was watching all this chaos in front of me, I'm dealing with a lot of chaos that is going on in my head, trying to understand what just happened in my personal life. In those moments I felt both of us needed, that comfort, cozy and caring - pockets of stillness. The things, places, people, and activities where you can feel still and have hope in those moments of chaos.
It's not that I knew this concept while I was dealing with the chaos, It was post the chaos, when I sat back and started reflecting and reading a lot of blogs - I discovered this concept of "pockets of stillness". It can also sometimes be called a bliss station, as coined by Austin Kelon.
Just to give a bit of clarity on this concept of Pockets of stillness, let me give some examples.
One of my friend's pockets of stillness after a very chaotic day is sitting back in the cozy corner that he set up for himself, lighting a candle, just disconnecting from everything that's happening around him, and closing his eyes to sit with silence. Some call it meditation.
During these moments of chaos - I've discovered that listening to a lot of music, curated by me and creating playlists for myself is a pocket of stillness to me, where I feel less chaotic inside when I'm doing this activity.
Going for that run in the evening, with the beats on sometimes, and sometimes just walking in silence is another pocket of stillness to me.

Having that place for yourself, a place you created and you call it home with those small little things that you set up in the house, going back to your home is another pocket of stillness to me.
Watching that TV show, which can make you laugh out loud during these chaotic moments, is a pocket of stillness to a lot of people.
Or talking to a friend who was always with you and been there during the worst of your times is another pocket of stillness.
All of us knowingly/unknowingly have a lot of pockets of stillness that we have in our life, which we should definitely fall back on when we feel like we are falling and shattering.
I'm not trying to say here that the journey of dealing with chaos is not tough but when you discover your pockets of stillness, and every day or every moment or every time you go through something that is not expected, these pockets of stillness keep you moving.
I'd love all of you who read it so far, to take this moment and tell yourself that "hey it's okay, this also shall pass" and also think and reflect on those pockets of stillness that you have in life and make those pockets a part of your daily routine, you can trust me on this, dealing with any type of uncertainty will become your second nature.
Post all this uncertainty, I've started feeling - I love this chaos and I know that my pockets of stillness are there to tell me " come, make yourself comfortable, and spend time with me, you'll feel better".
What are your pockets of stillness?
Here is a song that I'm dedicating to all fellow people who are going through uncertainty.
