Peek behind the paper: A simplified and rapid in situ hybridization protocol for planarians
In situ hybridization can be a challenging technique to employ. There has been significant work aimed at improving the sensitivity and reliability of the technique, but it remains a labor-intensive protocol to carry out. The goal of this work was to revisit the major processes included in in situ hybridization protocols and find alternative approaches to make the technique more efficient without sacrificing quality. By making simple modifications and eliminating many time-consuming steps, overall protocol time and hands-on sample processing was decreased dramatically.
