I love bourbon.

I know. It may seem odd to read this in a LinkedIn article...and still, it's true.

You know what I also love?

Messaging!

Celebration!

Helping!

I've learned it becomes cyclical.

See, I'm a product marketing advisor.

I help founders and their marketers (and occasionally their sales pros, too) attract more buyers and make big things happen...

All by getting the message right, no matter the audience.

I combine my 20 years in product marketing, excitement, and a genuine love for messaging and positioning to help my clients rise above the noise and better connect with their buying audiences.

So where's it get cyclical?

  1. We get the messaging clear, compelling, and convincing.
  2. Their audiences get excited...they get excited...I get excited...so celebration happens.
  3. Then, helping more people becomes a by-product for me, because...

I Celebrate Clients

So, on a particular Friday evening I was sipping a particular bourbon I enjoy, as I often do...

Then, it hit me.

It had been a spectacular week helping clients...and a new one decided to sign up, too.

I raised my glass, and I made a toast...TO MY CLIENTS!

I celebrated their success...which led to my own. And, I made it a practice.

Now, every Friday, I raise a glass with a rare or otherwise delicious bourbon, and I toast my clients.

Sometimes it's new clients. Sometimes it's existing clients. Always, I toast to their success!

People Say You Should Do What You Love

I love bourbon.

I love celebration.

I love helping people.

THIS is why I started my own #10tips10days series.

What's #10tips#10days?

#10ips10days is a LinkedIn campaign started by LinkedIn influencers, Kira Day, Jake Jordan, Lila Smith, and Bobby Umar back in 2018.

The campaign created helpful content...and even more importantly, it delivered exposure for people with valuable ideas that could serve a larger audience.

I Combined My Loves...in Content

My own #10tips10days content got started thanks to a push from (Sir) Richard Moore.

Richard is a brilliant sales trainer and incredible community builder I had the good fortune to meet live and in person last July.

With this video, Richard pushed me to start looking at things a little different.

A #10tips10days like you've never seen was born.

Tip #1: When buying a bourbon, price never tells the whole story.

Tip #2: To enjoy your whiskey more, know the different types of glasses.

Tip #3: Learn how ice affects your drink.

Tip #4: Learn how to sip bourbon the right way: taste how delicious it can be.

Tip #5: To celebrate more clients, pay attention to your positioning.

Tip #6: Map your messaging to how your audience buys.

Tip #7: Don't start your message off by talking about your offering.

Tip #8: DOH! Don't lose track of your tips!!

The great thing about any LinkedIn campaign is the rules don't matter much.

Want to do 10 tips in 10 weeks? Have at it.

Want to do three tips and call it ten? Sounds great!

Me? I did 9 tips...but I just realized it while making this compilation article! DOH!

So we'll call this article tip #8. Whataya think of that?!

Tip #9: To create compelling messaging, take chances.

Tip #10: Get social proof!

Number 9 Zach. The whole idea of taking chances in a public forum such as here on LinkedIn can be daunting. But, what I have learned is when you say 'just do it' and go ahead and post that in turn becomes the new norm and you get the energy to take more risks... eventually you arrive at the persona online that you really love being!
