Today 16th of January 2021, I celebrate God’s faithfulness, grace, favor, and mercy upon my life, family, and career so far!
It’s my 10 years working anniversary with my present company ( Chiyoda Almana Engineering LLC), a subsidiary of CHIYODA Corporation.
I am indeed grateful to my creator the Almighty God for these amazing milestones, which I have personally looked forward to (for now I can’t say why? It’s for another day).
This journey has been extremely challenging and exciting with so many curves along the path for my learning and growth to whom I am becoming.
In these 10 years of excellent service and devotion to CA, I have met wonderful people (managers, vendors, clients, colleagues, contractors and friends) and, participated in several remarkable projects, indeed I am very grateful.
Few low points to note are receiving a notice letter of demobilization or end of assignment twice ( 2015 & 2020) but it was reversed immediately, which proceeded to high points as well as being a recipient of my company’s superstar awards twice, (2016 and 2019/2020 ), each happened after every demobilization letter but there should be no third time J (superstar award is given to an exceptional individual who has performed excellently). In addition, I got an award for a team member of the quarter (2012 ) and team member of the year (2017).
Few lessons I learned so far:
1. Consistency is the mother of the game- each time I would receive a notice of demobilization, I continue to give my best, which I will always do to the end of my career, knowing that “Character creates consistency, and if your people know what they can expect from you, they will continue to look to you for leadership.” John C. Maxwell.
2. Give your best, success is no accident, no matter what, persevere, make sacrifices, it might not pay off immediately but certainly, it will, (l remember once a colleague of mine said, why l work so hard? I replied with John Wooden’s quote “What you do in practice is going to determine your level of success. I used to tell my players, 'You have to give 100 percent every day. Whatever you don't give, you can't make up for tomorrow. If you give only 75 percent today, you can't give 125 percent tomorrow to make up for it.” In my own word, if you do not give 100% in someone's business, it will be hard to give 100% to yours.
3. Help solve problems, create a solution for the betterment of all, as those who provide the solution are in great demand. Zig Ziglar says “If you help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want”.
4. Create a balance between work, family, and love what you are doing or leading to do, as Time is the most valuable commodity a man can spend, you might as well spend it well, as it waits for no one.
5. Be teachable, flexible, willing to learn, master your game and be prepared for change, Whitney M. Young said “It is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one than to have an opportunity and not be prepared.
As I step into the next decade of my goal, out of my comfort zone to explore what next for me, I am all ready to continue to serve my employer, partners and continue volunteering my time to my passion.
Cheers to another year of growth and prosperity of all.
