If you haven't yet, you will.
I have been trying to parse it all together over the last two years since they initially announced the changes to SMS/MMS procedure.
Having been in the industry and witnessed the mishandling of STIR/SHAKEN at a Federal level and a carrier level, I had hoped the big guys had learned their lesson.
More regulation in the telco space creates a stranglehold by the large carriers such as T-Mobile . AT&T , Verizon , Sprint , etc. Below are just some of the current charges for third-party telco's to participate in SMS/MMS.
The short answer? MONEY
New rules for Sole Proprietor Customers/Brands
● 1000 msg/day limit* (T-Mobile) and 15msg/minute limit* (AT&T)per Campaign - CSP to enforce daily limits *prone to carrier change by Nov 3, 2022
● Passing a two-step validation process: 1st - data, 2nd- OTP phone- enforced starting January 12th, 2023
● Mandatory monthly reporting to TCR
You will likely have current Sole Proprietor customers that are no longer eligible under these new requirements. For most Resellers, Volli recommends converting these entities to?Low-Volume use cases?as soon as possible.
Effective 11/17/22?– The fields listed below will be added and become mandatory for all SMS campaign types:

Additional Charges from carriers
On or before 12/1/22?– T-Mobile requires the deactivation of all 10DLC numbers that do not have active messaging traffic.
Effective 12/1/22?– T-Mobile will begin charging a?$250 non-use pass-through fee?for any 10DLC number that does not support any messaging traffic over a rolling two-month period.
Special Note: (Retroactive to 9/1/22)? T-Mobile is discontinuing the $50 10DLC activation fee.
Because AT&T charges seem ALL over the board, I have linked them HERE (Information provided by Bandwidth Inc. )
I am working on an in-depth spreadsheet showing all the misc charges. Currently, that would be the only way to see them in one spot, due to the fact there are many different charges to keep track of.
I love the #telco space and have loved working with these carriers in the past, and currently.
But we have to do better as an industry to promote growth in this industry.
Companies WILL have to pour additional money into developing new robust APIs to handle all the different rules for each "class" of the customer.
I am currently working with organizations helping to combat #10DLC and help the "little" guy.
The Big guys need to take notes from us trying to look out for our competitors. These new rules are unwarranted, and companies like Net2Phone , 8x8 , RingCentral , Twilio , Volli Communications , and many others will be hurt, which means the CUSTOMER is being hurt. #CAPEX spending has consequences for the industry.

1 年Literally screw 10DLC/A2P. My last few days have been an endless nightmare. I have also read stories of small business who no longer have access to clients. I've gone from app to app trying to find a solution. I'm done and I'm just going to carry multiple private cell phones. This is a shitty way the gov't has yet again gone to great lengths to show how much they hate small businesses. For someone like me, doing a 1-person freelance consulting that will possibly expand in the future to also property investment, I'd and rather not use my private cell but also not carry 3 separate cells. I thought it would be nice to have a VOIP over cell app like zoom phone, grasshopper, etc. Gues it was too much to ask for. Not going to use any of those services which also affects their bottom line. My call forwarding and text messaging needs are simple. They are merely person to person responses to projects. Eg: "Hey Rudy, do you want to meet tomorrow to discuss your project?" "Sure. Sounds great, I can show you what I did in Excel and see if that works for you!" But nope, gov't regulations had to step in and overcomplicate things shutting this down.

2 年Travis Curnutte very insightful... I can definitely how this would impact many marketing campaigns and small business providers.

2 年Thanks for the post Travis. We went up against this in January of this year. We have a client for whom we message and their emails and texts their communications were blocked for the word "tax" - they are in the financial / wealth management sector so of course they talk about tax! To make it worse, there was nobody at Campaign Registry to take calls or tech support to resolve it. We at AbriaCloud Technologies? agree. It's just more bureaucracy and potential for censorship.
