Hey!

Modern Luxury NASHVILLE Magazine recently launched and I was lucky enough to get a copy.

The cover features Lainey Wilson, who (if you haven't heard) has taken the city and music industry by storm.

Well, by storm is a bit of a stretch. It sounds like she just arrived and has taken over, almost instantly becoming one of the biggest stars in the world.

Untrue.

The truth is, it's taken her years--a decade in fact--for the storm to officially roll in (read: be recognized).

Nashville is known as a ten-year town. You've gotta come. Pay your dues. Network. Be nice. And perfect your craft.

That's all about the music business and also about just about every other business.

Including your writing business.

Your book business.

Your empire.

The article about Lainey was fascinating, sharing her origin story. And one part struck me the most: she requested "no dresses" during her photo shoot.

Why? To quote, "Lainey Wilson wouldn't be Lainey Wilson without her hat and bell bottoms."

She remembers wearing her first pair of bell bottoms and how they made her feel. She was wearing them when she wrote her first song, at age nine. It was also the first year she visited Nashville.

She became "Lainey Wilson!" when she donned her blue leopard-print bell bottoms. In other words, she has designed her own alter ego (and it's pretty badass if you ask me!).

I've done something similar myself.

In There is No Such Thing as Writer's Block, I tell you about my alter ego and teach you how to choose and develop your own!

It's true! You can create a version of your future, successful and prolific self to step into, when you're not feeling (or writing) the words.

I'll see you ma?ana!

Absolutely! Stepping into an alter ego can unlock creativity and confidence. It allows you to break free from self-doubt and explore new perspectives.?
