I have imagined, planned, funded and started 28 businesses of my own that I will admit to, and I have financed literally dozens of other startups. I am here to tell you that in this time, it does not cost much to do so. The story on White Mountain Movers is that Brady, who rents from me, was doing all the work, and another guy was making all the profit, investing nothing back in, not advertising, not branding, and generally not doing a great job.
So Brady, knowing all the logistics, and exactly how the business is done, decided to go it on his own. I already had Chamber Memberships in two Chambers of Commerce; a merchant account with Authorize.net to accept credit cards, a huge Internet presence which I have maintained for many years, and WhiteMountainBusiness.com, which I have shut down and redirected to my personal site, convinced that it is not worth doing mainly because I would rather concentrate on other endeavors.
It is not that hard if you know how. All that is left is to form the LLC. It is me D.B.A. for now, one step at a time.
The competitive difference with us is flat fee bid, soup to nuts, or not: you define what you want moved, and where to, and when; we provide a bid, then you decide, without risk, worry, or cumbersome ridiculous detail.
Any service business can compete, and have market share almost immediately, if you understand the weaknesses of the competition, the customers, and provide a better service.
Replacing less willing competitors is simply a choice.
Having a day job selling vehicles, I can tell you that people are moving to the White Mountains of Arizona from all over.

FACT: A hard working young man with a strong back, will work twice as hard, in a business that he owns. Myself, I can market anything, finance anything, sign my name to any equipment that I need, even if it requires a crane to move an antique piano, or a plane to deliver a package, whatever, we can do it.
Brady's wife, Gabby for short, is a graphic artist, and works with me selling vehicles at Arizona Dodge. People move, and buy vehicles at around the same time, so further synergy is reached. And the customers, they get soup to nuts services, properly funded, properly marketed; a good business is born. I like it.
