101 Coffee Stories: Dedicated to the People Behind the Cup
I'M NOT A BARISTA
A not-for-profit organization celebrating the coffee community by empowering baristas to reach their fullest potential.
We live in a world where winners take it all. We believe that our coffee champions, who work and train so hard to reach their fullest potential, deserve more. However, those who make it to the top of the coffee world are only a small percentage of our entire coffee industry.
There are millions of people who remain unknown whereas some have made a name for themselves in the industry. Regardless, both the unknown and the known contribute greatly to our daily cup of coffee. This includes millions of people who work on the farm and millions of baristas and roasters who have been through a lot., Even before the pandemic, baristas never had it easy.?
It takes so little to say a simple thank you to a barista who makes your cappuccino in the coffee shops downstairs. A simple “How’s your day going?” could brighten someone’s morning. Unfortunately, in this busy world full of 30-second fame on TikTok and other social media outlets, we make ourselves the center of our universe. We are more important. Most of us often forget that people who steam the milk for our coffee are also real people who need attention and care, and it takes only so little to show our humanity towards others.
101 Coffee Stories is our way of showing gratitude to those nameless coffee heroes. You've never heard their names, and you've never seen their faces, but they're just as important as the people whose pictures you see in the big coffee magazines.?
I’M NOT A BARISTA has been working hard on giving a voice to these coffee people without a name, because we believe their voices are important in this world. We have featured hundreds of coffee stories on the internet. Now we want to bring their voices to the front line and share their stories directly with coffee lovers in coffee shops, at homes, in bookshops, and everywhere coffee enthusiasts exist. And for those with reading disabilities or too busy to sit down to read, we invited professional narrators to narrate these stories for your listening pleasure.?

Is there any value in promoting these unknown people?
Financially, no, but this is a not-for-profit project - a book that serves a simple purpose: to empower coffee people behind the cup, especially those not in the limelight. We believe the real value of this book is to have people rekindle their kindness as human beings towards others. We can admire those who reach the top of the world, but we can also show kindness to those who need help and our attention. That is why I’M NOT A BARISTA’s slogan is "Humanity runs on Coffee." From the farm that is a thousand miles away from us to the barista who made our coffee this morning, there are hundreds of people involved in every single cup of coffee.?
In this crazy era of the world, we must never lose hope in ourselves. We need more humanity. We can also give to help others, even a small thank you when picking up our coffee. Everyone has a story to tell, and someone, somewhere, will be listening.
