A journey of a 100th blog post begins with a single blog!
What a journey it has been! When I first began blogging five years back, my only intention was to express myself and share my thoughts with my world. It feels like yesterday that I first started blogging. These chronicles served as a window to exchange insights on life and improve my understanding of the world.
It was a surreal experience and I often wondered about my readers. Who are they? Are my musings making any sense to them? Am I inspiring anyone out there? Maybe I did because I got both bricks and pats for my ruminations. But I kept walking.
It was also wonderful to realize how when I thought I was going to run out of things to say, somehow the words just seem to flow in a never-ending stream. It was like a film running through my mind which I had to share with the world and my neurons are still producing more of them now.
Today I have hit a century with this blog. Needless to say, it is a momentous occasion for me and this landmark achievement is worthy of celebration. Therefore I begin with a heartfelt Thank You to all those out there who have read, liked, shared, and commented on my blog.
Looking back on my previous 100 posts I can see how I have grown beyond the boundaries of what I once thought was impossible. Pursuing to write my blogs has also pushed me to learn new skills. This has helped me to hold in sync my craft, develop my art and share more with my readers. No wonder today I completed so far 200 hrs+ online training programme & counting. Target to complete to 1000+ hr of training programme in next 3 years.
Blogging has been challenging in parts. It is but natural that I should recount the essence of all that I have discovered through this pursuit. Here are little gems that formed a larger part of my joys.
Top 10 Lessons I learnt while blogging:
#1 Rejection is a huge part of life: Moment of truth! All my readers/followers did not, in unison, like my blog. While some applauded, many frowned. Never mind. They were doing what they were meant to do. I did do what I had to do. I kept writing; never stopped blogging.
#2 Don’t seek perfection: If my blog was not perfect, fine. We don’t live in a perfect world so perfection is just a concept. But my efforts towards excellence was well worth my time. I created new upsides…
#3 Never give up: There will be days when I was feeling down. But I kept going. I believed that there just might be a pleasant surprise (a huge number of ‘likes for that very blog) waiting around the corner so I powered on…
#4 Dream the reality: This 100th post was a Dream come true for me. It is fantastic and at the same time somewhat unreal to see that I made it through all the hues of life. I feel triumphant. Now this is an added bonus!
#5. Mentor called mistake: One of the most important lessons I have learnt in my blog-journey is that mistakes are your biggest teacher in life. The lessons you learn here serve you well throughout your life. It helps to sharpen your core capabilities.
#6 Trust your instinct: If you have a unique idea for your blog, don’t doubt it. Go ahead and share it with the world. Believe in what you have to say and your readers and followers will do so too. Become the new voice of your generation.
#7: Be a trailblazer: Sharing my own experience worked wonders in blogging. That is one information you can’t ‘google’. You are unique, remember that.
#8. Learning is never-ending quest: If you are not learning then you are not growing. Learning from the feedback of your readers will go a long way. Such response and insights are not designed to wear off until you learn from the experience.
#9. Embrace the creativity: One of the biggest lesson I learnt in the journey of blogging: Man’s best friend is creativity, his creative treasure trove. Add zest to your blogs, give it that twist which will make it interesting.
#10. If you think you can! Yes, you can! (The reverse is also true.) I could…
Starting to blog has been the best decision I have ever taken. The thirst to know more and the yearning to learn and still wanting more…life is worthy of every blog!
