#100DayChallenge Q1- Learnings
Dennis T. Harabin CPA

What started with me having a wonderful anniversary dinner with my wife has turned into something that has helped get me out of bed in the morning on a very positive note. I decided so that I don't forget what I learned, I should capture my learnings from each quarter in an article. Unfortunately, I just finished a tough Q2 and never did Q1, so I will keep the reflection here to a minimum and focus on getting caught up.
When it all started I didn't even know it would be a challenge it was basically me just giving a shout out to my wife.
It felt so good on day one that I continued the next morning.
At this point, I decided to challenge myself to do it for 100 days and went back and added the #100daychallenge. It is also about here where my secrets start to come out. Secret 1 - I keep a clean dress shirt and jacket on a hook on my office door for these sessions and zoom calls. I immediately hang them back up and get back into my casual clothes when it is done :).
Two weeks in and to now there was no real rhyme or reason on how I was calling people out. I just did it based on people who worked with me at similar times or on similar projects.
So that was it, just like that I was already 1/4 of the way through the challenge and there still wasn't much thought put into what I was doing or what I personally was getting out of it. I would just wake up, think of someone, do a shout-out and go about my business. Of course, it would make me feel good, which is why I started it. Most important it was reminding myself how blessed I am and thanking the others who made me feel that way. But something funny happened, by the end of Q1, I was getting feedback that it was making others feel good as well. Most feedback was private, but some were adding it right to the posts.
Day 19-
Dennis -
I can't tell you how special this was for me this morning. You should know that I feel very much the same way about you. As a wet behind the ears recruiter just getting my feet wet the day you joined the team marked a significant shift in the way I worked and the way I approached the business, I am forever grateful for a couple of years I got to sit next to you and listen to your conversations; listen and learn how you prepared a candidate for an interview, listen and learn as you communicated with clients and helped them understand the urgency of acting on a strong candidate so as not to lose that candidate and most of all the long conversations we had about human nature and what a pivotal part of people's lives we can be as recruiters. I rank you as one of my great teachers in my life, and that puts you in some pretty good company ;)
I am grateful you were able to be at my wedding, I only wish you were able to stay in Florida longer so our kids could play together and so you might have gotten to know Quincey even better before she passed.
Thank you Dennis, and #attitude #gratitude is a great idea, I appreciate you!
My dad always taught me when you accept a challenge, you finish it with all you have. If you give it all you have then you can be proud of what you have done. So I would plug on to Q2.
