“…It’s been 49 days already and yet just 474 KMS in my fold…not that its bad, but few things to ponder upon- Soon heavy rains limit my run-time on occasions.?And there’s always other stuff to catch-up, on work front project A is gaining momentum while timeline for activity B is nearing; on personal front I need to ensure that…”
Thus continued the story in my head as I completed Day 50 of HDOR Event (Hundred Days of Running).?Each passing day, I recalled milestones in previous edition, totaling a good 756 KMS, and with each run I thought how to set a new one in this edition.
With multiple things happening together, the sheer joy of running & walking rekindled the strength to make it through.?HDOR demands a minimum of 2 KMS each day in a single instance, which is all what I did on days when I couldn’t do anything more.?That only meant on other days I needed to pull farther.
Enjoying 3 types of weather during the course of event, the Summer Heat, the Wet Rains and therefore Cool Early Mornings was a delight.?Reading posts of fellow runners, some of whom had already surpassed triple digit KMS only made me think, “it’s awesome”.
As I continued each day, I only thought of upping the ante for getting to the new milestone. I tried all sorts, if I missed mornings due to other priorities, I made-up with late evening runs and walks; if weekdays seemed less, I caught-up on weekends.?At times, when Running hurt, I continued Walking and when Walking seemed tiring, I started Running.

Magic happened on Day 99…and I crossed-over the new milestone of 1000 KMS of Run.
‘WHOOOAAA…I DID IT!’, I exclaimed to myself.?What seemed unattainable with all things that kept me occupied, was now a reality and with 1 day still left in the event.
It’s amazing what Running can do to you.?It can challenge you to surmount even the hardest of climbs and trigger you to assail what may seem massive.
There are Fellow Runners who have recorded twice or thrice the KMS in this event and I salute their grit & willpower.?For me, this event was a testing of mine and I once again discovered, if something works or doesn’t, sheer determination does haul you through.
