It’s said that it takes 10,000 hours to become an overnight success. If you break this statement down, in 365 days it would take you 27.8 hours a day, seven days a weeks, to work on your goal and make them happen. Is this even possible? No. So we break this into 2 years and we get 13.5 hours a day of working 7 days a week. Basically, if you were to break 10,000 hours into two years, you would get the 13.5 hours. How many of us are willing to quit our jobs or capable of doing this? Not many, in fact, very few. So lets break it down two more times and we get to 3 hours and around 42 minutes a day for 8 years. Are you committed to the process? Do you know that this means you would have to commit 3 and a half hours of your time per day, 7 days a week, for 8 years to become a success in the area of your choosing? At 1st, this sounds difficult, but there is a science to success. If you work on your craft, whole heartedly, commit yourself to excellence, make an impactful difference, you can change the game. Take the steps to become successful. The truth is that people see the stairs to success and become frail, unmotivated and eager to quit, you have to be different. Most people are not willing to invest their time into the process. The difference between you and others not taking chances is that you’re eager to
test the waters, make an impact and challenge the status quo.
When you look back at the 10,000+ hours you have invested to become the women or man you are today, you realize the investment is yourself is more valuable than anything you could imagine. You can’t fake success. You start to understand, how important this and that time was and you ultimately end up becoming a change leader in the process, to your vantage. If you want the goal, embrace the process. Look at the set of circumstances and say, okay, “I see what I have to go through, but I’m willing to do so.” Having the end in mind is important, you must work backwards. Take a moment to figure out what you want and draw a descriptive message that outlines what steps you need to take. Go from 10,000 hours to zero real quick (punny)! Many people love success, they love what it looks like but have never experienced what the journey of success takes. Many people don’t know what they want, therefore, they can’t go through the process because it would be purposeless. You might be in the same boat, I’ve been in that position plenty of times and have trouble every now and again deciphering what it is that I truly want because as a human, we enjoy learning and adapting as time goes. Until you find out what you want, you will always be drifting. Until you ask yourself these basic questions, you will never find clarity within your success.
You will never receive the blessings of your choice until you know what it takes to complete and
conquer the journey. The way you do this is by either, research on your own, figure it out through connecting with people, or study someone who has done something similar to what you have and use their prior knowledge and failure to elevate you to a new level.
Find a group or person that has practiced what you seek to do. When you are able to meet someone or a group that is doing what you dream of, not only does it give you confidence, but it allows you to make choices based off of knowledge from people or a group that has been through what you seek.
A mentor or someone who has lived a similar experience of your dream is an extremely resourceful tool to utilize. Many of my mentors have passed knowledge that has changed the way I think from my mother, John and Eric Thomas to name a few.
The funny thing about becoming an overnight success is that it really never happens overnight. Whoever told you that your dreams would happen overnight was lying. Even if they meant well and wanted to encourage you, let’s be real. The best knowledge you can receive is the direction to go. That’s why it’s essential for you to read this chapter. Nothing is going to come easy, you must fight for what you are doing, you must be totally committed
to your success. You must be aware of the process and you must continuously work on your work.
