I firmly believe in the concept that you can get 100 times better at any skill with deliberate effort, practice, and consistency. This isn’t just motivational—it’s developmental science!
But here’s the catch: 90% of people quit their higher goals in favor of lesser ones. As Robert Brault wisely said, "We are kept from our goal not by obstacles, but by a clear path to a lesser goal."
Why does this happen? One major culprit is comparison.
Comparison: The Thief of Joy ????
Imagine starting at step 1 in your journey to improve a skill—let’s say cybersecurity compliance. At step 1, you can absolutely get 100 times better. But what knocks most people down is comparing themselves to someone else’s step 55, 66, or even 100.
When we see others ahead of us, our subconscious mind whispers: "They’re so far ahead; why even bother?" This self-defense mechanism convinces us to quit to avoid the pain of feeling “behind.” But in reality, it’s harming us.
Here’s the truth: Your chapter 1 cannot be compared to someone else’s chapter 55. You’re on your own journey. Success is not about where you are today—it’s about staying consistent and focusing on your progress, not someone else’s.
Reframing for Progress ????
To achieve 100 times better, shift your mindset from comparison to growth:

Remember, the path to greatness is not about perfection; it’s about persistence. Let’s keep climbing together! ????

1 个月Great message, Joe. I think there's a quote attributed to Bill Gates about how we overestimate what we can accomplish in days and underestimate what we can accomplish in years just by doing what you say here... staying consistent, building brick by brick, and watching those tiny improvements compound over time. Our overestimations that we don't achieve in the short run can cause us to give up. Just have to push past it, embrace the suck, enjoy/appreciate the small wins, and keep plugging away.
