100 Days social media free

100 Days social media free

In today’s digitally driven world, social media has become an integral part of our daily lives. From scrolling endless feeds to staying connected with friends, colleagues, and even unknown people. It's easy to get lost in this virtual life.

A bit more than 100 days ago I decided spontaneously to quit social media applications except LinkedIn “ which we have to struggle to keep it ridicule free”. I will write my journey or “lesson learned if you like” more than stylish articles due to the abundance of cyberspace of such articles.

It’s a multi-phase process, the first phase lasted for one week as an experimental period to evaluate the idea, measure the seriousness of the decision, and get over the enchantment of the initial rush. The second phase is 100 days of social media detox. To be honest, I do not know why I have not deleted my accounts permanently, maybe I was not sure I would pass the test. The only argument I made to whoever questioned my idea was that I am simply exhausted from social media. It's not a secret that some people were trying to unintentionally pre-frustrate me at an early start others advised me to minimize screen time gradually rather than suddenly quitting.

Anyhow here I am after 100 days of social media blackout writing my thoughts about this experiment.

Few questions…

- Can we live without social media? the short answer is YES.

- How is life without social media? peaceful.

- Can you isolate yourself from what’s going on around you? Well, this is not a valid question as you are surrounded by other people who will tell you the “news” you only change the source!

DO NOT be a victim of FOMO ( Fear of missing out) believe me you will miss nothing important.

I can exaggerate and tell you that I already read 30 books, learned 2 coding languages, and started a startup company but this will not be true. Even though I have not optimized the invested free time 100%, I am sure I will get there soon.

Doctors acknowledge that when you quit smoking, your sense of smell and taste will improve significantly therefore I promise you dear reader that quitting these mental distraction tools will enhance your sense of time appreciation.

I recommend that you watch the documentary ( Social Dilemma) as it will be your guilt trigger to urge you to start your detox journey.

Great job, Ali! Your writing style is truly impressive. As for my strategy to use apps less, I plan to unfollow any unnecessary pages and only follow the content that I truly enjoy. This way, I hope to gradually lose interest in endlessly scrolling through these apps, and only spend time on them to view specific content before exiting.
