100 Days

100 Days

I’d hoped to publish a post 100 days after I started at Texo Group Ltd., but a couple of time critical projects put paid to that, not least of all our Operating Safety Case renewal. So here I am, 100 days, plus a few more after I joined Texo.

It was a complicated route to get to my present role. Initially I had accepted a position at the CAA but the persistence of Lauren Arnott along with James Arnott finally made me change tack. Whilst the proposed role was exciting with a great opportunity to progress in a fast paced and diverse organization, it was really Lauren and James themselves that changed my mind. Their long history with Texo and their honest discussions together with seeing how they had developed within the Group and how the Group had helped in that development was what really swung it for me. Telephone calls, emails and finally a chat at the top of the steps at Oxford Circus Tube Station and the deal was done.

So, in my 100+ days I have observed a few things that confirm that I made the right decision.

The people make Texo what it is. I speak to many people in different Divisions within Texo on a weekly basis and they all share that enthusiasm to be part of Texo and the success that comes with it. A core component of any business is a workforce that is engaged, motivated and that feels part of a team. Everybody’s opinion is valued and respected. This ethos is reflected in their strapline “Together we are one.”

Senior management are visible at Texo. It’s a big organization with many sites but you’ll often see the Directors at different locations, and they are always happy to stop and chat. No big egos at Texo! They promote a great staff culture within the Group, from top down.

Texo are a forward-thinking company, keen to innovate, explore new markets, and develop solutions. Just because a process has been in place for years doesn’t mean it can’t be challenged and replaced. The sectors in which we operate are constantly evolving and we must respond to that on a daily basis.

Texo provides a great deal of help and support to community groups, educators, and sports groups up and down the country. Giving something back to the communities in which we are based is a fantastic initiative.

As for my role, it’s refreshing to be part of an organization that takes flight safety seriously and understands UK Drone Regulations as well as their own operational permission. We’ve recently been audited by the CAA and are encouraged by the progress being made between the industry and the regulator. There is a lot of change on the horizon within the UK UAS Sector and I am excited to be part of that change both with other UAS Operators, ARPAS, and the CAA themselves.

We have an amazing set of flight permissions contained in our Operational Safety Case and operate onshore, offshore and in just about every environment imaginable with clients returning to us time after time because they know the task will be carried out efficiently, safely, on time and on budget. Texo are probably a little quiet when it comes to telling the world what we do as a company, but that will change over the coming months.

Texo has definitely been the right move for me and I’m looking forward to the future.
