When I was training for one of my Dan ranks in martial arts, my Sensei had me pick a Kung Fu form and do what is referred to as “Doing 100 Days”. Doing 100 Days has its roots in Chinese martial arts. The 100 days is to help the student develop more than the form but extensive discipline.
The concept is simple – pick something, a form, an exercise, reading a book, reading the bible, making X sales calls. Whatever you feel you would benefit from. You start at day 1. You complete the chosen task each day for “100 days”. If you miss a day, not a big deal just start over. AT DAY 1. Do not beat yourself up. Climbing into bed a dark thirty and haven’t done your thing for the day. Get up and get it done. To give you the idea of how this works, let me relate a story.
During one of my 100 days, I found myself in the hospital with wires and tubes running into all kinds of places on my body. I got out of bed the next morning and began to do a Wing Chun form. The nurse came running in and hollered “You’re sick. You can’t do that. Get back in bed.” I said “You don’t understand, I am at day 64. I am not starting over.” And finished the form.
I would like to put out a challenge to you to do a “100 Days”. Pick something you feel would be beneficial for you to accomplish. Even if it’s just for you. After all it is for you. Keep track on your calendar and go for it. Miss a day, don’t beat yourself up. Just start over the next day at day 1.
I can guarantee you, it will change you as a person. Think of the satisfaction of this accomplishment. Not many people will complete the 100 days. Be one of those few.

5 年Great job my dear brother on your 100-Day Challenge. I really like this. You’re a brave soul. I took on a 100-Day Challenge many years ago. I had to write 100-articles in 100-days, consisting of 240-words or more. Halfway through the process, I asked myself, “Why?” I wrote mostly about poetry, the date the poem was created, the author of the poem, and my interpretation of the poem. I eventually finished and slept for an entire weekend from lack of sleep. Upon receiving my Expert Writer Certificate and other prizes through the mail, I was so elated and wanted to do it again. I even develop my own poetry form and style called,” Epulaeryu Poetry,” which is being enjoyed by many poets around the world. Have an awesome day, stay encouraged, inspired, ingenious, resilient, and blessed always!
