I am blown away! Why? Over the past few years, I meticulously summarized what I found striking or interesting in the last 100+ books I had read or re-read. These summaries, spread over 200+ pages in Word documents, were meant to remind me on the “lenses” - history, economics, politics, business strategy, and leadership - that I have built while reading these books.
I kept postponing this activity until this morning when my co-pilot on my personal laptop asked if it could do something for me. I thought, why not throw a challenge ? I opened my book summary and asked Copilot to summarize. Voila! In less than 60 seconds, it did what I had been postponing for ages. ??
Here are the key learnings and themes from the last 100+ books (happy to provide you the list of these books for full transparency if interested) as summarized by Copilot in just less than a minute:

2 个月Congratulations on earning some more free time ... I wonder what you'll do with that. Oh wait, I know... more book summaries coming ;-) Jokes aside - agree that they can help with these kinds of tasks. I use LLMs to draft the "first version" of many things these days...but I also feel, it takes away some of the pleasurable pain of working through a "writing problem". Nothing like being in flow when writing...no amount of prompt engineering delivers that...
