100 Blogs to Thanksgiving. Not About Numbers

100 Blogs to Thanksgiving. Not About Numbers

Happy Thanksgiving. Since I started blogging on LinkedIn a few short months ago, one emotion has dominated my thoughts: #gratitude.

This is now my 100th blog, and I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to share my thoughts here. We take way too many things for granted in this life, and if it weren’t for this platform, my thoughts would be shuttered up in my head, never to see the light of day….

Thank you LinkedIn and thank you to everyone who has been kind enough to read, like and comment. It is such an amazing thought that you can reach out to the throbbing masses of humanity and that people actually take the time to reach back to you. In their incredibly busy lives, they take the time to read your words – they are allowing you (a total stranger) to be part of their lives.

Only on the Internet is this possible.

You pass so many fascinating people in your daily travels. That girl on the train could be your soul mate, but you only ever exchange a smile. The guy from the accounting department is always hanging around, but you never have a reason to talk to him…. They pass into and out of your life, but you never interact with them, you never get to know them.

In every blog, I am sharing that little bit extra of myself. I might be writing about technology (my passion), or I might be writing about more general leadership topics, but whatever the subject, the readers have a window onto my world. To be able to open my heart in this way is truly a gift, but the fact that the conversation is not always one way is the most amazing thing.

I have chatted with lots of readers and received many emails after my blogs. People want to show that they were touched, that they care… there is something about making a “connection” that is the essence of what it means to be human. For me, that is what my blog is all about – all those small connections.

So, for those people who obsess about the numbers, about whether the blog is “featured” or not (although I hope that this one is!), remember this:

If you touch just one person with the right word, you can change their life.

I have absolute belief in this truth. Not everyone will comment, not everyone will “like” or “share” the article, but you can be sure that, once in a while, someone will be touched by one of my articles. It might not be in an earth-shattering way, but all those small moments add up, and I feel that I do make a little difference like this every time that I write. I’ll never know for sure, but I believe that I do.

I don’t write for myself; I write for others, and this is my small way of trying to make a difference in this selfish and frenetic world.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do that.

Thank you so much.

Thank you for reading. If my daily LinkedIn business blogs help you and you'd like to nominate me for the LinkedIN Top Voices List then please fill out this short form
