Hi Reader,
Yesterday afternoon, I attended the FDF Innovation for Healthier Diets Tasting Event in Parliament. Since 2015, FDF member companies have? contributed to a 33% reduction in salt, 25% less sugar and 24% fewer calories across the GB grocery market. This success is the result of ongoing innovation and substantial investments—over £160m in 2023 alone—towards healthier product options.
The FDF is calling on the government to establish a UK-wide Reformulation for Health Programme. This initiative would support smaller businesses by providing technical assistance to trial new innovations, as well as expanding access to R&D tax credits, grants and capital allowance schemes.
The event was hosted by Mike Reader MP, who, in his opening remarks, emphasised the food manufacturing sector’s significant contribution to the nation. “The businesses represented here today have worked tirelessly to address our nation’s health crisis and to showcase this industry as more than just manufacturers,” he said.
Stay tuned for the full story on our website later today. In the meantime, enjoy some excellent articles below! ??
