10 Years Today.

I am not one for the "LinkedInfluncer" style posts but today marks a special occasion.

Today marks a significant milestone in my personal and professional journey as I proudly reflect upon the past ten years of my association with Samsung.

I am grateful for the opportunity to share my experiences and express my sincerest gratitude to those who have played a pivotal role in shaping my path.

A decade ago, I embarked on my Samsung journey, which coincided with receiving an invitation letter to the military. However, my unwavering loyalty as a Samsung fanboy, stemming from my life as a tech enthusiast, made it impossible for me to decline the chance to immerse myself in the world of Samsung.

I began my tenure in the mobile division, representing Samsung as a field representative under Bluesquare Marketing. During my time in the mobile division, I had the privilege of meeting incredible individuals on a daily basis, some of whom I now consider friends for life.

As my journey progressed, I assumed the role of a national trainer, overseeing the knowledge and development of the field teams. This role allowed me to make significant contributions to numerous new product launches, partake in pre-release media runs, my big Irish head even featured on European news segments! While my love for our Mx portfolio remained unwavering, I felt the calling for change.

The golden opportunity to transition to Samsung Display presented itself, and I jumped at the opportunity. Working in the realm of Business-to-Business (B2B) under the mentorship of Conor O'Neill, I found myself in a funded head role with Squareone Distribution, The Irish arm of the Midwich group. It was during this tenure that I started delving into the vast knowledge of the AV world, fostering relationships with businesses, and experiencing newfound autonomy in my day-to-day endeavors.

I still recall the moment of shock from when I was first asked, "What do you make of this? What approach should we take?" It was an invigorating experience that pushed me to constantly adapt and grow.

After three years and two successful ISE's with Squareone Distribution, fate united me with Samsung directly through a contracting company—an opportunity I simply could not resist.

This marked my entry full immersion into the world of Samsung, where I learned to navigate the intricacies of commercials, meet the expectations of headquarters, and taking charge of the B2B LCD category.

During my time here, I played a vital role in establishing new retail monitor avenues and guiding LCD monitors to reach record highs in sales amid challenging worldwide pandemics. I am indebted to my incredible team, who consistently supported me, offered valuable advice, and contributed to our collective success. During this period, I also had the privilege of setting up a YouTube channel to facilitate remote learning, participating in a panel discussion on the future of gaming, and assisting in the launch of a Samsung gaming platform.

Allow me to express my heartfelt appreciation to a few key individuals who have been instrumental in shaping my journey thus far.

Firstly, Louise Hanney & Katherine Gillespie Webster . I will be forever grateful for you allowing me to start my Samsung Journey. Catherine O'Flaherty, Patrick Walsh Thank you for all the guidance in my mobile days.

Secondly, Conor O Neill , not only a manager and mentor but someone I consider a lifelong friend. I am forever indebted to him for the support and guidance he selflessly provided. Conor believed in me and didn't judge me based on mere qualifications or credentials.

I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to Adrian McInerney , the esteemed leader of Samsung's B2B division. Adrian, a human phonebook and the ultimate "big picture guy", nurtured my journey in the B2B realm and continues to be the go-to person for any question or guidance.

Furthermore, I am immensely grateful to Graeme Little , the head of Samsung Display. Graeme, with his knowledge, unwavering approachability, and genuine character, has played a significant role in granting me my most recent opportunity.

Last but certainly not least, I must express my deepest gratitude to my girlfriend Lorraine Mulcahy , who has stood by my side, dealt with my stresses when I first jumped to display and for tolerating my pickiness when it comes to phones & poor digital signage when we are out!

Now as we stand here in 2024, I am delighted and honoured to announce that I have become a fully-fledged direct Samsung employee. The prospect of the forthcoming decade fills me with excitement and anticipation, and I eagerly look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
