10 Years!

10 Years!

Today marks 10 years to the day since I started working at MGF.

It is hard to believe I’ve been here a decade, time flies. I'm proud to have been present for a quarter of MGFs 40 years in business and played my part in the business’s growth.

What a journey it has been!

I started at MGF with only 2.5 years industry experience after University and it’s safe to say I was a ‘little green’. However, I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by people in the business that have tens of years of service, knowledge and experience who have guided me along the way. To all these people (too many to mention by name), I am truly grateful. Their passion and enthusiasm for the business and our customers inspired me and gave me the drive and motivation to want to better myself. I work with some incredibly supportive people - a big thank you to them all.

The best part of the job? It’s a cliché but it’s the people - both my colleagues and the customers I play my part in supplying. I love being part of a team who on a daily basis are presented with challenges and have to find reactive solutions, it still gives me a real buzz - problem solving. Using both my Engineering experience and commercial acumen to take away a customer’s headache and present them with a solution.

During those 10 years the changes to the business that I have witnessed and been party to are incredible. I've seen new depots open, new products launch, huge Engineering expansion, serious technological advances, innovative ideas adopted, new divisions, many new faces arrive and much more. It’s been truly exciting to be a part of.

The business has allowed me to flourish and created opportunities for me to grow as a person, develop professionally and prove myself. Be that tackling either the technical or the commercial side of the business from starting out as a Technical Sales Engineer to progressing on to my current role as Regional Sales Manager.

It's not just me personally or the business that's changed during those 10 years but also the industry as a whole. Every day I see more and more people across the industry striving to create safe working environments with an emphasis on making sure that every person goes home safely at the end of the day. It's rewarding to be a part of an industry that is constantly pursuing betterment.

The 10 years have given me the opportunity to work on some truly fascinating Engineering projects. Too many high-profile projects to mention them all by name. But right across so many sectors - AMP, Energy, Highways, Housing, Rail and that's what keeps each day interesting - the variety of sectors we get involved in.

I’ve worked with and for some brilliant people. I’ve also been lucky to lead some exceptional individuals in my team over the last 4 years since I took on a management role.

On a personal note, so much in my life has changed during those 10 years - getting married, buying my first house, and having my son - through all of these life changing moments MGF have been the constant, which I'm grateful for.

So, thank you to all colleagues past and present and to all the customers over the years. I look forward to the next 10 years of my career!

Be safe, be happy.
