As the company celebrates its 10-year anniversary, we are thrilled to announce the rebranding of the corporate identity as well as the launch of a new retail brand alongside an expansion into the processing and value-add space

?

The company launched the new NOVO brand in Q2 of 2022 with value-add products already available to consumers in thousands of stores across North America. The line includes Atlantic Salmon items as well as a new expansion with wild species such as Mahi, Hake, Tuna, Shrimp, and other sustainably wild caught and farmed items sourced around the globe. The name NOVO stands for new/fresh and was created to launch products for the next generation of seafood consumers. With NOVO, the company is developing new ready to cook/ready to eat items focused on innovation and sustainability. The company’s drive is to adapt to new technologies, new processes, and most importantly new ways of thinking.

?

Together with the successful launch of the NOVO brand, the sales and distribution arm of the company is being renamed NovoMar, Inc. The purpose of this corporate rebranding is aligned with the consumer brand communicating the integrated value chain from raw material to consumer ready products.

?

In Q1 2022, the company acquired a new 26,000 square foot processing facility in Miami, FL. The corporate headquarters moved to the new location in Q2 2022. The new plant has been designed and built out with cutting edge technology and will begin production in Q4 2022. The processing arm is named NovoPro, LLC and will process value-add seafood for NovoMar as well as co-packing branded and private label items for producers, distributors, and retailers. The initial capabilities are filleting, pin boning and packaging followed by other value-add capabilities such as portioning, vacuum packing, skin packing, freezing, and glazing. The facility will have the expected capacity to process 20 million pounds annually in phase 1 and 40 million pounds annually in phase 2 by Q2 of 2023. In turn, we will be able to provide dozens of jobs to the local community in the Miami Dade area, potentially supporting hundreds of community members.

Emil Andreassen, the company’s President says: “Since 2012, Platina Seafood has established a large import and distribution network in North America. The company’s main focus has been Atlantic Salmon as the main commodity with fresh and frozen items. Our company is one of the largest independent importers of salmon in the USA with presence in over 15,000 retail stores and hundreds of food service distributors. I am excited for this next step for the NOVO family of companies. As we expand our state-of-the-art production capabilities, we will be able to provide leading edge efficiency, cost effectiveness and innovative solutions for our partners and customers. Through these implementations, we will be bringing our company to the next level in an effort to integrate a larger piece of the value-chain from processing to the consumer’s plate in the USA.”.
