10 week GAP course in Les Deux Alpes
Do you want to do something special with your GAP year? Why not join us in Les Deux Alpes and not only pass the best 10 weeks of your life but also take your British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI) Levels 1&2. The course is run by Nonstop Snow.
What a day in the life of this course looks like
The days are spent on the snow. The mornings you have free to hit the park, explore the mountain with friends or practice what you have been working on. The afternoons you will be with your coaches Alex or Gaetan. You will have the opportunity to ski with both coaches and both have different styles and ways of passing on information.
The afternoon lessons run from 1-5 each week day. The aim is to cover all the strands of skiing, teach you to teach and fully understand the fundamentals of skiing and of course improve your skiing and ability to enjoy the mountain. You will spend time on the piste, in the park, off piste and just about everywhere possible on the mountain!
During the lessons you will be given feedback, exercises and time to practice and ski. We will also use video to help with improving and of course have some fun making videos and photos for you guys to keep in your memories!
The evenings are yours to chill, party, explore the town or do some of the amazing activities on offer!
Activities
Whilst you will be here primarily to ski we offer much more than just the skiing! you will have a meal out as a group organised each week. This is of course optional but great fun and an opportunity to sample the local cuisine.
Every Friday evening you will join the instructors for their weekly Apres ski in the famous Umbrella Bar. This is a lively venue with great music and atmosphere, a firm favourite with all the course members and local instructors.
Opening and closing the pistes with the ski patrollers is a firm favourite!
One day will be set aside to take the Helicoptor to the neighbouring resort of Alp d'huez ... this really is an incredible experience flying over the Oisans valley into Alp d'huez and then back again at the end of the day.
One evening we will take the last lift up to Troika and enjoy the sunset and of course a fondue before skiing down by torchlight. This is an amazing evening and another highlight of the course.
Other activities include, bowling, iceskating, airbag and more
La Grave
Les Deux Alpes shares the mountain and glacier with La Grave. La Grave is a mythical totally unpisted wild rugged resort at the base of the Meije. This resort is on every powder hounds bucket list and it's right on your doorstep.
Alex will take you for a days skiing here in La Grave where you will follow the 2 classic itineraries through the mountains and enjoy a typical lunch in one of the mountain refuges.

The day finishes with a cold beer in the bar in town looking back up at the mountain you have conquered during the day. This is one of the most magical special days of the trip.
Accommodation
We work with hotel Le Crete. This is an excellent Italian run hotel right in the centre of the resort. You even have your local The Penguin Pub on your door step.
you will be in shared rooms unless you have specifically requested (and paid for) a single room. This will become your home for the next 10 weeks, you have a bar area and sitting area for chilling, a dinning room for dinners and where breakfast is served.
Claudia and Marina are on hand to help with anything you need and give a true Italian welcome to the group.
You have great internet in the hotel for watching films and completing the online bits of your BASI and first aid courses.
The Town
Les Deux Alpes is historically a summer grazing plateau for two villages, Mont de lans and Venosc, hence is name "Deux" or the 2 alpes.
The town is long and thin with shops, bars and restaurants all along. The main area is right where your hotel is with The polar Bear pub, Penguin pub and smithies all within a stones throw away.
You will also find a Decathlon and many other sports shops in town. We work with Schuss sports and Ben and Elodie will give you a welcome reception and help with choosing the right equipment or clothes for you.
Ski Equipment
Skis and boots are a key part of the course and we recommend you getting them in resort so that your boots can be fitted correctly and tweaked during the 10 weeks if need be. We love Dynastar and will organise skis at a discounted rate to pick up in resort. These skis are carefully chosen to be the best ski for the course!
Some people like to have an off piste ski as well and again we are big fans of Dynastar and Ben at Schuss sports can rent you off piste skis or help you choose the right ski for you to buy should you wish.
Like wise those wanting to ski off piste and do the day trip to La Grave it's super important to have avalanche kit. This is a shovel, transceiver and probe. During the course we will teach you how to use this and Ben will have kits available to buy or rent as you prefer.
