10 Ways Your Business Can Utilize Video Marketing

Video has become the front-runner for content delivery and online marketing . A lot of businesses I work with want to incorporate video into their marketing and social strategy but aren’t sure where to start. Below I have a list of 10 ways to utilize video in your business and marketing strategy, so let’s dive in!

#1: Company Culture Video

Telling the story of your business through the eyes of your employees is a great way to connect with your audience and provide an authentic point of view of your business. This style of video is a great way to show off your team and your values. Customers, clients, and potential hires will love to see a peak behind the curtain to see who makes your business the success it is.

Here is an example of a company culture video I created for Buckeye Innovation based in New Albany, Ohio. The video focuses on who the business is, not what they do. The team at Buckeye has let me know that they get tons of compliments on their culture video on their website and that it even influenced a few of their current employees to apply to work there!

#2: Product Showcase

A product showcase video can offer a more detailed explanation of one of your products and allow your viewers a deeper understanding of how it works. It can be a great addition to any social media feed or website to help answer a few questions on the product and get people interested in learning more or purchasing.

Here’s a take on a product showcase I created for CME Federal Credit Union based in Columbus, Ohio. This video shows off their UChoose account and gives the viewer some info on how the account can be used and is fun to watch too!

#3: Animated Explainer

Using video to educate your audience is always a good idea. Animated explainer videos are an excellent way to take dense or complicated information and present it in a way that is approachable and easy to understand. By providing fun and interesting visuals for the content, it keeps viewers engaged while they learn.

Here’s a video I created for Kidney Donor Conversations that dives into why a kidney transplant won’t last forever. Kidney Donor Conversations focuses on educating kidney donors and recipients and providing them with information that helps break down some of the dense medical information and makes it fun and approachable. #4: Brand Story Video

Tell the story of your brand, your values, and what sets you apart from competitors. Brand story videos allow you to give the viewer all the information they need to know about who you are and what you do, and why you do it! Educate, entertain, and inspire your viewers with a brand video that includes details on your business and testimonials from employees and customers, all in one video!

Here’s a great example of a brand video for Denison University’s Summer TUTTI program. The video features interviews from program facilitators and students who participated in the summer camp. It’s combined with footage of the camp and fun music and graphics to really tell the story of the program.

#5: Video Ads

Target your audience online or on streaming services with video ads. Ads are short and concise videos aimed at grabbing the attention of the viewer and giving them a call to action, such as visiting your website, calling your business, or purchasing your product.

This video was created for Kurgis and Associates , a law firm based in Columbus, Ohio with a passion for personal injury law. The visuals and graphics of this video grab your attention and give you all the information you need to learn more.

#6: Social Media Videos

Similar to video ads, targeted social media videos aim to provide a quick video to entertain and inform your audience. Since these videos are created for and meant to remain on social media sites like Instagram or Facebook, they can be tailored to the specifics that the algorithms are focusing on at the time. These videos aren’t meant to be evergreen or used over the next few months and years, but offer a great way to provide a snippet of information that will live on people’s social media feeds for a few days.

This social media video I created for CME Federal Credit Union highlights a limited-time promotion that they are offering. It gives all the necessary information and encourages the viewer to visit their website to learn more and take advantage of the offer.

#7: Event Coverage

Capture the atmosphere and key moments of company events, conferences, or trade shows with a beautiful video. Event videos are great ways to thank attendees and provide information on the event, and can be used as a promotional piece for future events!

Here’s a video recap I created for the First Responders Ball hosted by the Forester Foundation in Columbus Ohio. The event was created to raise money for the foundation so it can help support first responders and their families through deaths and health crises.

#8: Customer Testimonials

What better way to sell your product or services than by letting a happy customer do the talking? Customer testimonial videos offer real-life insight from satisfied customers and can have a powerful impact on potential clients. Testimonials feel authentic, unscripted, and real.

Here’s a testimonial video I put together for JJ DiGeronimo for her women’s retreats she hosts at the Waterwood Estate in Vermillion, Ohio. This video gives a voice to women who have attended her retreats and can be used as a promotional piece for future events or as a great social media post.

#9: Industry Experts

Providing your audience and customers with free information from industry experts is a great way to cement you as a thought leader in your industry and build a trustworthy reputation for your brand. Videos featuring industry experts don’t have to be flashy- in fact, the simpler the better. A simple video feels authentic and can help validate the expertise of the individual, by not seeming overly scripted or distracting from the information with flashy editing or effects.

Here’s a video that’s part of a larger series created by EnvisionEdPlus . These free EnterActive videos hosted on YouTube provide entry-level information for their audience. It’s goal isn’t to sell their product or get people to sign up for their courses, but it’s simply to provide information and help establish them as experts in the education field. These videos are filmed by the EnterActive team and sent to me for editing , where I add a few graphics and branding, but allow the focus to remain on the expert and the information they are presenting.

#10: Drone video

Drone video has become a very popular way to show off your business. Flyover videos of facilities and properties are great ways to show the scale and quality of your business. You can utilize drone video by adding clips of drone shots to your culture, brand, event, or social media video, or you can allow the drone video to be the focus of your content.

Here’s a drone video I created for Apple Valley Golf Course located in Howard, Ohio. This videos serves as a flyover video of one of the holes on the course, and offers information on the distance and hazards presented on the hole. This flyover video is a great preview of what to expect while playing the hole, and shows off the excellent condition of the course.

BONUS IDEAS

There are two more bonus ideas for video content I want to briefly mention- training videos and webinars. Videos are a fantastic way to pass on information, and by utilizing videos for educational purposes, you can reduce time in training or in putting on live webinars. Video doesn’t just have to be a flashy way to add content to your social media strategy, but can be used as a tool to help your business save time and be more effective in communication important information.
