10 Ways to Show Appreciation to Employees

10 Ways to Show Appreciation to Employees

Imagine yourself working for nine hours daily, working overtime, and receiving zero appreciation from the boss; that’s depressing, right? So, why would you do the same with your employees? Appreciating the employees is important because it not only improves morale but helps improve productivity as well. If you don’t know how to show appreciation towards employees, here’re some ways to help you out!

Praise Them

Whenever your employee does a promising job, praise them. You can identify the well-done tasks, and the employees will work even more sincerely. However, “you did a great job” doesn’t cut it anymore. While you praise their job, do tell them the reason why you liked their work, so they feel appreciated and are motivated to learn more.

Always Say Thank You

The bosses often refrain from saying thank you or please, but it’s a great way of showing appreciation. Whenever employees contribute to work, say thank you because these social niceties work great for workplaces. Also, who doesn’t like the civilized and polite workplace environment?

Learn Their Interests

It’s about acknowledging the coworker’s activities and interests, such as their weekend, hobby, family, or the party that they took an off for. However, don’t blur the line between showing interest and being nosey. When you acknowledge their interests, they will feel valued.

Don’t Shy Away From Flexibility

The employees work tirelessly to complete your tasks and try their best to balance the time. However, everyone has emergencies, so don’t shy away from showing some flexibility when employees are stuck. Also, the work schedule must remain flexible for better employee balance.

Personalized Gifts

You must know the coworkers’ interests, and there is nothing wrong with presenting them with small personalized gifts (occasionally, of course). The gift of appreciation will lighten up the employees’ gloomy mood. Even if you cannot get the personalized gift, the greeting card will serve the purpose. For instance, if it’s employees’ birthday or is undergoing difficulty, your gift or card will help them feel better!

Financial Benefits

Ranging from quarterly bonuses or annual bonuses, the financial benefits will motivate the employees and make them feel cared about. In addition, you can also provide gift certificates and attendance bonuses because it shows appreciation!

Treat Them With Meals

Everybody loves food, and treating them with a meal is an excellent form of showing appreciation. To illustrate, you can take employees to lunch on special occasions (or not). You can take them to a restaurant or order pasta for lunchtime, whatever is feasible. Also, if your team has achieved the target goals, host the brunch and give an appreciation speech; a perfect way of showing appreciation!

Surprise Them!

Appreciation doesn’t have to be expensive always because offering a simple cupcake or cookie will do just fine. If you have baked anything new, take a few treats for employees. Well, even if you don’t bake, offer them a chocolate bar or candy, anything sweet and delicious will do!

I agree with this completely. Often the employers push expectations in terms of objectives and forget celebrating success of employees.....
