Several days ago, the government announced that we are now moving to the so-called new normal.
But what is this new normal? Politicians often talk about this, but will we ever get back to pre-pandemic normal?
The term “new normal” has since been used in a variety of other contexts to imply that something which was previously abnormal has become commonplace.
Is the new normal the way of life now across the globe? Does it have an end date?
With this kind of change, the so-called “new normal,” how are you adapting so far? Despite the transition, “the entire nation is still under quarantine,” and some curbs would remain to prevent a second wave of infections. So to say, life will not be back to normal until the COVID-19 cases don’t decrease or as long as there is still no vaccine.
Work, home, social life, economy, how we do business, and even how we communicate has caused a drastic change to us both physically and mentally—shifting from a corporate office to work at home setup. From wanderlust to a home buddy. From sociable nightlife to Netflix binge-watching. For some, it is much harder as they have lost their means of living.
Now how is change suitable for this kind of situation? Though all of us can resist the change and potentially be swept away by it, how far can we take the risk? Or we can do the other way around. Choose to accept and cooperate with it, adapt to it, and benefit from it.
WHAT CAN WE DO NOW?
We are all in this together now. We can no longer change what is already here. And the best way to deal with it is to embrace the change wholeheartedly as an inevitable part of life. Look for ways to use this ‘new normal’ to make your life more productive, easier, fulfilling, and even use it to help other people who are in need. It may not be in the means of money, but you can extend help in countless ways.
While this new normal has been a bit of a shock to the system, I’m always trying to look for the positives, slowing down and being present at the moment. Though all of us are in a different facet of life, I hope that you are finding ways to cope and do the same.
Sharing with you the insights on how to help you manage your life through these troubling times.
10 Ways to Help You Manage Your Life with this So-Called New Normal
?? Acknowledge your emotions
The first step to having a handle on our emotions is to acknowledge them. Learning to recognize, name, and express your emotions will set you free from them.
?? Avoid comparing yourself to others
We are all walking our own unique path. Don’t be pressured what everyone else is doing and achieving. You are not in competition with anyone else.
?? Take 100% responsibility for your life
Don’t blame your behavior to someone else or to the situation. You are 100% responsible no matter how bad you are feeling or what’s happening in your life.
?? Reflect
Become more aware of what’s really worth your energy.
?? Meditate
Be still. Breathe in and out. There might be many things going through your mind, and that is okay. Acknowledge the thoughts.
?? Do something good for your body, mind, soul, and spirit
Do something today that your future self will thank you for. Set aside time to do something good for yourself. Make the most of this time in your life.
?? Be present
Be here now. Make a choice to be here now with all of life raging around. Don’t fear what will happen in the future, it will only rob you of your enjoyment of the present. Now is the only moment that needs you.
?? Help others
There are countless ways to help others and it doesn’t have to be monetary all the time. By simply lifting each other up and cheering each other on lightens the burdens of another.
?? Pray
Pray, it’s powerful. He hears you, He sees you, and He knows what is best for you.
?? Connect with others
During this time of quarantine and physical separation, it is important to keep social connections. Let us strengthen our relationships and build new and meaningful ones.
WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. WE ARE ONE.
