10 Ways To Help You If You're Feeling Down
1.) Speak To Friends
Why? Well friends know how to cheer you up, you can share about your lives and actually talk about what is going on as opposed to bottling it up. It’s easy especially for men to bottle everything up and not share what is really going on.
What I recommend is to actually begin authentically sharing, and if you have been to any of my events such as Release The Real You or the Fulfilment Artist Intensive you will know what this means! In essence the beautiful thing about authentically sharing is you start to really understand people’s true stories and they can really relate to you.
Unlike most social media, which is a shallow perception of how we want people to perceive our lives. When you interact using what I have said above, that vulnerability will allows others to share with you as well and you can start to gain perspective into your life.
2.) Spend Time With Children
This is so important because you start to see the innocence of life and how carefree children are. Through them you can start to appreciate what life really is about. When watching a child, they will make you laugh purely by how ridiculously authentic they are, they won’t fart and blame someone else.
They fart and are surprised where it comes from!!! They don’t just sit there on their phone they are genuinely fascinated by the world. Their wonder is something that can help you move out of any negative state; plus a baby laughing is just something that you have to adore.
If you can’t spend time with children then watch them from a distance and it is sure to bring a smile to your face.
3.) Exercise – Get The Blood Flowing
Exercising helps release dopamine in the brain, it helps your brain function and helps you think in different ways. Plus moving your body will just make you feel good, get your heart rate up and get some oxygen to your lungs.
If you can, exercise outside because then you can really move outside of the box life that most people live in and start to observe and appreciate the world around you.
4.) Eat Something Healthy
Most of us eat such unhealthy food and wonder why we don’t feel good. The nutritional value of the food is terrible, have you ever thought about what is actually in the food that you eat? It's strange, I never thought about it until I joined a health and nutrition mastermind but it fascinates me how much toxic products are in food and what it really does to your body.
Look at chicken breasts for example, they are getting bigger and bigger. I don’t think chickens in the past century have evolved to be 3x as big! Ultimately growth hormones affect your body so you need to be aware of this and eat something healthy.
Depending on where you are in the world it is better said than done, however do stay tuned, as I will be creating a course soon on how to have more energy in life. I am so excited to share this once I find out even more golden nuggets to share with you all!
5.) Meditate On It
Sometimes we rush around so much, we never actually stop to think about how we are really feeling and what is actually going on. Often we don’t know why we are feeling a certain way because we suppress emotions.
I have said before that when you suppress emotions what is really happening is like a jack in the box getting ready to explode. Spend some time really thinking about what it is that is bothering you and start to observe your mind instead of thinking that you are your mind.
6.) Have a Cat Nap
Oh cat naps are just the best thing ever! Often in life we forget how important it is for our body to rest and actually recharge. I know that when I travel, cat naps are one of the best ways to get my to adjust to time zones and help me feel recharged.
Sometimes just rejuvenating ourselves by going to sleep is one of the best ways to really make yourself feel better and think more clearly.
7.) Put On Music That Inspires You
We all have our pump up songs that makes us feel amazing and it isn’t just the music but it’s the actual vibrations that help shift our body. This helps create an immediate change in how you feel. Go dance around listening to your favourite tunes and then tell me if you are feeling sad after!
Most people that feel down listen to crap sad music… why would you do that? It’s like getting injured and then poking the wound!!! Now I know what maybe going through your mind, but Ben sometimes I am not in the mood.
The truth is that your state can change instantaneously but it’s about interrupting the pattern. When you can become a master of understanding how to interrupt your patterns then you will start to live an extra-ordinary life instead of an average life that most people settle for.
8.) Read Or Listen To Something Inspirational
There is inspiration all around us. Go read someone’s autobiography, listen to someone on YouTube, listen to one of my videos and hopefully it will make you laugh or cause you to question some things in your life. You could even watch motivational videos that can help get you up and moving. Either way this inspiration can really help you feel better.
I often don’t speak about motivation going up and down throughout our weeks but something I would like to share is that motivation is like a shower you should take it daily! Yes you should be showering daily if you aren’t already and motivation is the same!
9.) Watch A Funny Movie
Why? Well it will make you laugh and cause you to feel good and will allow you to take your mind off whatever it is you are thinking of.
I don’t mean to distract you here but often we feel down when we are overthinking, so give yourself a break and allow yourself to truly relax and have a bit of fun! I would also recommend doing this with friends!
10.) Go Into Nature
Experience the world and feel what it is really like just to be part of this big planet. Look how fascinating it is to see all the patterns in nature and that from the ground flowers grows with the most beautiful colors.
Just observe that you are a part of this world and there is so much to appreciate around you, if you just take the chance to stop and observe.
When all is said and done we are just a spec of dust on this planet, we are fortunate to be here and know that our lives will be gone in a flash. It’s important to utilise everything you have whilst you are still here.
We can choose to settle for an average life and focus on what is wrong. What is wrong is always available in everyone’s life. If you want to live an extra-ordinary one it’s time to take responsibility and start to live the life that you deserve.
