10 Ways To Get Closer To Your Customers.....

The ways how customers choose who to purchase the products or services from are changing. The more closer you get to your customers or prospects will increase your chances of getting the sales.
However, this doesn’t mean that you should take the door-to-door sales route because such strategy no longer works as people are getting busier and are more aware about their privacy.
With the barriers above and the change in your customer’s mindset, what are the alternatives that you can apply to get closer to your customers? Well, the following points will give you the extra blade to help you get right in front of your customers, with their arms wide open to welcome you.
Your Customer is King, Not You
Some business owners may be proud of themselves or the products and services that they offer. However, keep this in mind, your customer is King. Why? Because they are your source of revenue. You are actually welcoming them to come forward and get closer to you by putting your ego as a business owner aside.
In fact, you must have the mindset of willing to interact and connect with your customers in order to get closer to them. Without the mindset, the following tips will not work because your target market can easily identify a false interaction in no time.
Be Authentic
Just be yourself. There’s absolutely no point for you to fake things up and make life difficult. Your customers will learn more about you as they become closer to you anyway.
What if you have a bad habit such as over obnoxious or nose picking while serving food that might deter your customers from doing business with you ever again? Well, change that habit. If you are running a restaurant, picking your nose will chase a customer away no matter what.
There’s a fine line between being authentic and being clueless about what your business requires. However, being authentic about your shortfall is way better than having your customers uncover the problems themselves.
Appearance in Communities
To get closer to your customers or prospects, you need to have a presence at places where they hang out. Not only that you will be given the opportunity to interact with them but noticing how the trend in terms of their demand and problems they face is another benefit of having a presence among the community.
Gathering venues can be at traditional conferences, networking events, meetups or online communities. Just do a Google search for events and sites that are relevant to your industry to get started.
Meet Customers in Person
Technologies like phones, instant messaging, emails and ultimately social media messaging are slowly removing the barriers of communication and interaction. However, nothing beats meeting someone face-to-face as mentioned before at “8 Ways to Bring Social Media Relationships to the Next Level.”
Meeting them in person allows them to address their problems directly to you and it shows that you care.
Ask Questions and Listen
Asking a question and spark conversations among your community. Questions doesn’t necessarily mean those that are relevant to your products or services. Questions that are related to daily activities such as which restaurant has the best steak in town helps to get a conversation started.
By continuously asking questions, you will notice that you are starting to learn more about your community, how to start a conversation with them and what are the things that they are interested in. All these information help you to craft your marketing message later on.
Pay Close Attention to Thought Leaders
Whether you like it or not, most people are followers. The good thing about this that there will definitely be one or more thought leaders in your industry. Follow them. You will get some insights as to where the industry is moving.
Their blogs, sites or social media pages are often filled with discussions among community members. Monitoring these discussions help you to validate claims and opinions made by the leader while indirectly get you closer to them as you offer your participation.
Observe Community Norms
Does your community or target market celebrate a particular day? What are the buzz that they usually react to? What are the phrases that they use to communicate among each other?

It is not a must but observing and applying the community norms but doing so makes other members feel that you are part of the tribe. I’m sure that you understand in order to become part of a group; you need to communicate like the group members.
Avoid Industry Jargons
One big marketing mistake that are being done repetitively, especially by those in a highly technical or professional industry such as technology, legal, financial services, power tools and more, is the number of jargons used in a marketing message.
Tell your market the way they converse among themselves. If the product specifications are too technical, don’t use it in your marketing message. Tell your users how will the features will be beneficial to them.
Personalised Marketing Messages
Send out a customised birthday messages, refer to your customers using their first names or offering special discount offers for loyal customers are some of the ways to bridge the gap between you and your existing customers.
People often want to be loved. If you show that you care and provide them with personalized attention, they are likely to stick to your products and services because they will find themselves being able to relate to your business.
Improve Your Communication Skills
If you care, how do you communicate the fact that you care? How to make sure your attempt to get closer with your customers is communicated successfully? How are you going to communicate face-to-face with your customers? Yes, all the above depends on your communication skills.
Understanding your customers is one thing and using the knowledge that you acquired about them to communicate with them is another thing altogether.
