Building a home is not a walk in the park. In practice, there are three types of builders one can choose from. These are either production builders, semi-custom builders or custom builders. Custom builders can be described as unique, pragmatic and imaginative. The art and science of custom building involves starting from a blank sheet of paper, and out of it creating a home. The whole experience transcends into an extremely large number of potential finishes and unusual design details. Because each house is custom designed and certainly one of a kind for each client, custom builders come at a significant cost.
The biggest threat for a custom builder is the franchise builder who thrives on the sheer volume of houses they build. In all technicalities, most custom builders want to go the franchise way because of the allure it offers. Franchises however have a plethora of undoings that makes the prospect nothing more than an expending of your energies in vain.
