10 Ways to create money from your skincare formulation without creating a brand.

The natural skincare market is booming and, mainly due to the amazing courses run by the wonderful Formula Botanica, literally tens of thousands of passionate, creative individuals, worldwide are learning how to make their own unique, natural skincare products.
?Formula Botanica’s main agenda is to teach individuals formulating skills so that they can make their own products at home instead of buying them from a beauty counter but as a mentor working with skincare entrepreneurs I am regularly approached by their students and asked to teach all the pieces needed to turn these skills into successful skincare brands.
?The hard truth is that building a skincare brand requires huge dedication, substantial capital, business savvy and a learning curve that in many instances takes the individual away from the activity they love most, ie. the sensuous experience of creating and mixing exotic blends of oils, waxes and essences. ???To build a successful brand?the focus has to be on strong business skills and on marketing and that may not be why many started this journey. ?
For those with the clear aim of building a substantial business this is just fine (and I am here to help) but for those who are considering using their skincare skills as a sideline here are ten alternative ways to earn money from your knowledge without having to undergo the pain of creating and marketing your own brand.
?1.?????Run online or in person classes
?The beauty of going this route is that it is entirely scalable.?You could teach on a one to one basis, run group classes at your home or in a community hall or video your classes and present them either live on Zoom or sell them as recordings. If you plan to do this I suggest you get a small number of your recipes assessed by a safety assessor and stick to using those in your teaching materials.
?2, ??Enter the teaching world
?If you feel challenged about building a network of potential students, approach your local education providers and see if you can run classes for them on a regular?basis.
3.????Create private label products for other brands
?Many companies in the health and fashion world would love to diversify into selling a range of ‘own brand’ skincare products and you could be the person to help them with that.?Compose a supersonic email or a slide deck to give examples of what you can do and get out there and sell.
?4.????Create private label products for influencers
?We live in a world of celebrity influencers many of whom trade on how great they look.??Having a range of beauty products with their name on it would not only add cudos to their personal brand but it would also provide them with a new income stream.??Identify the right influencers and just knock on the door.
?5.????Create recipes for ingredients suppliers

?Many cosmetic ingredients and essential oil suppliers would love to be able to promote their wares by offering recipes and ‘how to’ instructions showing the end products that can be?created using them.?You just have to show that you are the person to do that for them.
?6.????Offer custom made products for individuals
?If you happen to be an aromatherapist (and I know many of you are), create a small selection of base products and ask your safety assessor for an assessment that will allow you a choice of variations of base or essential oils and then you can custom make products to suit specific skin types.?Alternatively you could carry a large range of base products and provide individuals with a recommended skincare regime.?This one is all about how you present and package your offering.
?7.????Create and sell recipe books
?If you have a lot of ideas for products, make the products, take some gorgeous photos, add the recipe and making instructions and sell these as booklets or even a complete book. It will bring you in income and raise your professional profile.
?8?????Run team building events
?Running corporate team building events where people can come and play with gorgeous ingredients has to be a winner.?Likewise you could do the same offering for hen parties or big anniversaries.
9.?????Sell ingredients kits with recipes
?If you have no joy creating exclusive products for ingredients' suppliers why not create simple recipes in kit form and sell them via your website or on social media. You can of course do this without a specific ingredients supplier behind you but it would be simpler if you were working with one supplier and you might even be able to get them to package up the kits for you.
10.?Become a beauty journalist
?And finally, you could approach magazines or ezines and get yourself a regular beauty column providing 'how to' instructions and beauty tips and offering your products for sale to those who don’t wish to make them themselves.
