If there was a formula to creating viral content, everyone would be doing it. If you watch enough TikTok you know there is somewhat a formula and as soon as people pick up on it and recreate it, that is old news and it’s time for something new.?
I think there are plenty of things to learn from what has been viral in the past and ways we can optimize our content for optimal views.
Here are 10 of my favorite viral brand videos from TikTok and what you can learn from them:
- Zoolander by Scrub Daddy
: Scrub daddy has really embraced being a little messy with their content - but hey they were invented to clean up messes right? This content does well as they really look meme culture from being just a still image or gif into video format and inserted a brand in a relevant way. Not to mention the nostalgia, all their customers know this movie scene.
- Highlighter by Fenty Beauty
: This one was super simple and I think people just related to it. It focused on the product with a call out (and scene) of a normal task or place people may find themselves in.
- Oh No by The Honey Pot Co
: My team at TCE
actually created this and we are super proud. It took a trending song at the time (it was key to get this content out quickly) and added something that may be a fear in most women to the video. But the real key here was adding (fake) blood - which you may not see on TikTok often and would be taboo.
- Taste Test by Liquid Death
: If you follow Mr Beast or any similar creators, we all know that games and money win people over. Liquid Death took that and make it their own with this taste test - this is also content we all would have watched on TV - which I think is something to note as well, wha makes TV content so great and how can we translate that to TikTok?
- 6am Flight by Ryan Air
: Another one focused on being relatable and also just simple. Love it.
- Vanilla by Milk Bar
: If you know Milk Bar you know what they are all about and why this video is funny. If you don’t, then you are in the comments trying to find out. We all want users to go to our comments and profiles to learn more. This video made people do that AND made true fans laugh. It’s an insider thing.
- BTS by Rare Beauty
: I have never seen a brand post BTS from a factory and people not love the content. If you have the access, this content usually performs well for any brand.
- Weather Channel by E.L.F.
: I don’t want to give all the success to this video because of the star, but I think this was a well made video by making the brand fit into this scene. Somewhat nostalgic, somewhat making their own meme, and then of course featuring a very famous singer who is also blowing up on TikTok right now, our girl Meghan
.
- First Time by Chipotle
: This feels like it goes along with the Milk Bar video, featuring what people go through when in your store (could also apply to interacting with a product for the first time). It also has that comedic flare to it which is nice.
- Parallel Parking by Barbie
: I am obsessed with this account. Not only do they make super fun scenes with Barbies, but they have content (and used sounds) that are super relatable.
