Thanks, Joe Kwon ?????? another great installment! Thought-provoking. I never really looked at myself as someone who does not ask for what I want. But getting the "impossible", is another story. As I thought about your message I realized that if I have convinced myself I deserve something or I need it, I go out and get it. But in situations, like the cafeteria example, where I have not examined what is driving the "ask" and whether or not I am "entitled" to it is a whole different situation. This really made me think about what drives me, what I feel I deserve or have earned, and why. It also made me think about the difference between entitlement and earning or deserving something. They can be similar but can still be different. For me, it comes down to what is driving me to ask for more. BTW, I immediately thought of "Oliver" when you were talking about your cafeteria example, "More?! You want more?!", lol. Thanks, Joe Kwon ??????.

There was one time at the college cafeteria where the server ladling out food gave my friend two pancakes and me one. I asked him for an extra one and he also paused, frowned, but then gave me one. Social anxiety can often affect our ability to ask for things, but like that cliche, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take! I think the next biggest challenge in this practice of being willing to ask, would be negotiating for salary ??. Thanks again Joe, I find these mini tune-ups encouraging and calming.
