10 Tips to Take Guilt-Free Time Off This Summer ???

?Summer is here and I don't know about you, but I truly look forward to spending time vacationing with my family all year long. However, as we all know, balancing work and vacation can be a bit of a challenge ???

Gets traumatic flashbacks from the summer I decided to plan a launch!

That being said, with a bit of planning and preparation, you can ensure that your business runs smoothly while you take some well-deserved time off this summer. Here are some tips that have worked wonders for me ????

?? Make a Physical To-Do List: Start by jotting down all the tasks that need attention before you leave for your summer getaway. Think of it as your vacation preparation checklist. From ensuring client projects are on track to setting up auto-responders for your emails, a physical list can help you visualize what needs to be done before you can fully relax.

?? Talk to Your Team in Advance and Delegate Effectively: Summer is a busy time for everyone, so have a team meeting a couple of weeks before your vacation. Discuss upcoming projects, deadlines, and who will cover for you while you’re away. This way, everyone knows their roles and responsibilities, and there are no surprises. Plus, it gives your team a chance to ask questions and clarify anything they're unsure about.

?? Use a Project Management Tool: Set up a Trello board or an Asana project specifically for your summer tasks. Create lists for Before Vacation, During Vacation, and Post-Vacation. Assign tasks to team members and set deadlines. This way, everyone knows what needs to be done and when, and you can easily check in if needed without diving into the details.

Speaking of delegation and project management, it might be helpful for you to work with an Online Business Manager, especially if you have several moving pieces and multiple team members in your business.

We recently interviewed Kari Roberts on Business Briefs and this video will serve as the perfect guide in helping you determine whether or not you would benefit from hiring an OBM. Check it out! ??

?? Have a Summer Absolutes List: Create a list of must-do tasks that need to be completed before the summer ends. These could include finalizing a major client project, planning for the upcoming quarter, or organizing your office. By focusing on these summer absolutes, you ensure that critical tasks are handled, allowing you to enjoy the rest of the season without lingering stress.

?? Consolidate Your Operations: Summer often means juggling personal plans along with work. Use tools that can keep everything in one place to streamline your workflow. I find using Trello for task management and Slack for team communication works best. This way, if something urgent comes up, you can quickly check-in without switching between multiple apps.

?? Don’t Overwhelm Yourself with Too Many Tools: During the summer, simplicity is key. Stick to a few reliable tools. I’ve found that a physical to-do list for daily tasks and Trello for project management strike the perfect balance. This way, you’re not bogged down by notifications from multiple apps and can enjoy your time off.

?? Be Intentional About Your Tasks: Focus on what truly needs your attention and can’t wait until after summer. Schedule lighter tasks for when you return to work. This approach helps you enjoy your summer without the weight of work tasks hanging over you, allowing for a more relaxing break.

?? Stay on Top of Tasks and Zoom Out Daily: Dedicate a bit of time each day to step back and look at the bigger picture. This includes not just work, but also personal life and family time. Allow yourself the time to work on your business guilt-free, even if it means finding your kids another activity to keep them occupied for a couple of hours every day. By regularly reviewing everything, you can make adjustments as needed and keep a healthy balance.

?? Take Guilt Out of the Equation: Summer is a time to recharge. Remind yourself that taking a break is essential for your well-being and productivity. Set boundaries, inform your clients and team of your availability, and trust that they can handle things in your absence.

?? Set Up Your Summer in a Way That Makes Sense for You: Everyone's summer plans are unique. Whether you're going on a two-week vacation, taking long weekends, or just cutting back on hours, tailor your approach to fit your situation. Plan your work around your summer activities to ensure a smooth balance between work and relaxation.

By following these simple tips, you can set up your business to run smoothly and ensure you have a relaxing and enjoyable summer.?
