10 tips for successful Google+ strategy – part 1
Google+ is a different social media platform than Facebook or Twitter or LinkedIn or Pinterest. It is helpful to find people based on interests, passions, products and services.
Using these 10 small tips, you can turn a normal Google+ marketing strategy into a successful one.
- Use a custom URL like plus.google.com/+username so that your brand is easily found and remembered. It will also increase visibility in search results if an article or blog post you wrote shows up in search results. To make the most of this, claim your Google Authorship so that your details appear in search results along with your blog posts.
- Optimize your profile for search. Your tagline shows up in search results. So make it a compelling one. Complete your About page with all the important details such as contact us, location pin, links to other social media websites and the blogs you are a contributor to. Use lots of keywords in your profile.
- You should cross post your business page content on your personal pages too. You should also encourage everyone in your company to do this. This will ensure sharing of your content and Google will rank your content based on this. Encourage your followers to reshare your content too. The more reshares you get the more important Google will consider it.
- Use circles efficiently. Segment your followers based on their location, interests, passions or products they are interested in and place them in different circles. Search for new people and influencers using keyword search and add them to relevant circles. You can create circles with experts you want to follow and engage with. Encourage your followers to join these circles too. When your followers add you to their circles, thank them and engage with them.
- Use hashtags. Hashtages are a big deal on Google+ just like they are on Twitter. Use relevant hashtags to make your posts visible when someone searches for them. Do not go overboard and spam with hashtags. Use 3-4 per post. When you post long form content, use hashtags within the content. Do not make each keyword a hashtag. Your posts will be ranked based on keywords. But use hashtags to be visible to people searching for trending topics, events, products or services.
