These last few weeks of the year are always a bit of a blur – a mix of excitement as we approach the holidays and festivities and mild panic that there’s still so much left to do before we wind down!
From my experience running a business over the last five years, it certainly can be a busy time but it’s also a great opportunity to get organised and make sure you’ve got things covered and are ready for the new year. So, I've put together the ultimate end-of-year checklist for you (and maybe there are some things you haven’t even considered!):
1. Wrap it up
Nope, not the presents, although you will have to get that sorted too! I’m talking about any final sessions you need to book with clients. Are there any outstanding tasks or deadlines looming? Any warm leads you can message to keep you top of mind for the new year? Make sure you wrap things up smoothly, tying up loose ends and if needed, book anything for January now so it’s not forgotten as you emerge from the chocolate boxes. Now is also a great time to ask for feedback and gather testimonials so you can use them for future marketing efforts and to help you shape your offering and make any changes.
2. Get ahead with your marketing
Think about how you want to show up on socials over the festive period. Do you want to keep the same momentum going? Will you reduce the number of posts going out or will you have a complete social switch-off? Will you still be sending emails out? Make sure you plan any content and get it scheduled! You can use it as an opportunity to share any holiday plans, give an insight behind the scenes and create a bit of a buzz and intrigue by sharing some sneak peeks of what's coming up in the new year.
3. Clean up your emails
Declutter your inbox so you’re ready to start with a clean slate in 2024. Create folders, archive, or delete old emails so nothing gets lost or forgotten. No one likes coming back to a full inbox and a long scroll!
4. Check your calendar
It may sound obvious, but have you updated your calendar availability? If you’ve got a public calendar like Calendly where clients can schedule calls with you, make sure you update your calendar with your availability for the upcoming weeks – it makes it easier for clients to schedule appointments or consultations (and you don’t get any surprises when you’re still in holiday mode!).

5. Christmas gifting
Have you thought about gifting? Whilst it’s not a necessity, you can show appreciation to your clients, partners, and collaborators with thoughtful gifts or personalised cards. Sending gifts can strengthen your relationship and keep you top of mind, however, don’t feel pressured. In fact, sometimes it’s better to do throughout the year as it will be more meaningful and impactful.

6. Take control of your finances
Chase up any outstanding invoices, and check all your expenses are recorded so there’s no scrambling come your next tax return (and if you haven’t got an accountant already, look now as they will likely be booked up closer to April). It’s also a great time to review your figures and set financial goals for the coming year.
?
7. Celebrate achievements
Don’t forget, make time to celebrate too! Reflect on all you’ve achieved this year - big or small, it all contributes to your journey and where you are now.
?
8. Action planning
Make an action plan for Q1, outlining your business goals and breaking them down into actionable steps. This will keep you focused, motivated and ready to go come January.
?
9. Self-care and reflection
Don’t forget to use this time to take a break to relax and recharge as well as reflect on what’s worked well and where you could improve, grow, or evolve!
10. Book a call
