10 things only a 'newbie' recruiter will understand #5

10 things only a 'newbie' recruiter will understand #5

So you survived the interview and managed to convince your employer that you’re worthy of a position within their company. Welcome to recruitment, an industry filled with targets, hard work and the frequent bout of work induced panic. All starting off as ‘newbies’ at one point, here are some points  we can all relate to.

1. Praying the phone doesn’t ring so you don’t actually have to sound like you know what you’re talking about

 2. Realising that when you wrote ‘As a highly organised and efficient individual..’ on your CV, you literally had no idea how organised and efficient you would need to be

3. Remaining convinced you’re going to win a huge retained contract in your first week and go down in company history. #baller

4. Mentally spending your first commission on an outrageous holiday, long before you’ve even earned it..

 5. Becoming enthralled with the holy grail that is Linkedin

 6. Getting business cards. Yes: I. Have. Arrived.

7. Handing out above-mentioned business cards to anyone and everyone within a 5-mile radius.

8. Realising 9 to 5 is just a song by Dolly Parton, nothing else.

9. Thinking about recruitment; dreaming about recruitment; talking about recruitment and spending all weekend mentally planning how awesome you’re going to be at recruitment next week

10. Realising that despite all the initial hesitations and the constant need to vomit, that you actually love recruitment and couldn’t imagine doing anything else

Good article Jamie Clarke. I hope this is authentically all yours. After reading Amber Chaffe's comments I noticed some of the grammar, structure and punctuation looks suspiciously similar in both articles. Especially since you state grammar isn't your strongest point in your profile. It's good to see a consultant writing, keep it up.
